At work i am a very aggressive negotiator and more often than not i negotiate excellent contracts for my company, yet when it comes to buying something for myself like clothes, a car or whatever, i am totally hopeless and usually end up paying the ticket price.

I save my company millions, yet i can't even save myself $10, lol

With adult, strangers, yes. With kids, I'm wayy to soft.

in terms of work bran, i'm self taught. The best tips i can give are, know your product or market and do your research thoroughly. If you know more than the person you are negotiating with, you will prevail most of the time, regardless of how aggressive they are.

People feel threatened when they feel you have the upper hand in terms of product or pricing knowledge and that will always put you in a stronger position.

And you should have some giveaways which are of little value to you, but that make your opponent feel like they have had a win. That way you will be able to bargain strongly on the things that really matter to you in the negotiation.
