Are you a coffee drinker?

I HAVE to have my coffee! I drink mine black, though. I like the caffiene rush before lifting. Never noticed any bloating from the coffee.

if coffee was outlawed..........

i'd turn into a criminal to support my caffine habit!

i am a mean, gruff, short tempered 240 pound bear without caffine in the morning, afternoon, and night.

Alot of times I NEED coffee to pull 24 hour shifts. I like it with a tad bit of milk and enough sugar to mask that columbian bitterness. Definately is a mild diuretic, also supposedly increases insulin resistance so I try to avoid eating carbs with it.

What happens if I drink coffee with carbs? It's kinda hard to avoid some carbs in the morning when I gotta have my coffee.

I have been drinking coffee with breakfast for many years and never go more than a 10% bodyfat. But I'm a natural ectomorph, so I'm not sure what it's effects will be on someone on the mesomorph side or better yet an endomorph side.

The post about coffee increasing insulin resistance hit me.
I had posted about having late morning sweats and tremors and that I had only had coffee in the am. Fact is I also would pick up a very sweet frozen cappaccino everu am. Since I have eliminated that drink and had no carbs in the am I have no longer had a hypo reaction. Very interesting.

coffee is my middle name

I just have a cup with skim milk and some splenda. No fat or carbs contained in that...
as your avitar pic proves......outstanding pic!

love coffee but it does give me a bloated feeling esp if it is a day off from training. I always wondered why?

Coffee is essential for me bloat isnt a thing to worry about. It helps me keep my BF down. Before morning cup of coffee:o After first cup:vanp:

Here are some interesting tidbits I found out about coffee:

Caffeine from coffee will also fight muscle fatigue. So slurp up a cup of coffee before performing a demanding activity like running, weightlifting or before a long day in the garden, and watch your performance increase.

Evidence shows that caffeine intensifies muscle contractions, masks the discomfort of physical exertion and even speeds up the use of the muscles' short-term fuel stores.

Side Effects:
Overdoing it (4-5 coffees a day) can over-stimulate the nerves and generate some pretty nasty side effects. It can leave the drinker feeling restless, irritable, and make his hands tremble. In extreme cases, it can create severe insomnia.

Other side effects from excessive caffeine consumption are diarrhea, copious urination, while some people can even experience facial flushing. It's hard to say how much caffeine is needed to trigger these side effects because everybody's body will react differently.

Occasional drinkers might experience the side effects after one cup whereas usual drinkers might get jumpy when drinking one more than usual.

Caffeine creates a dependency, and its main problem is caffeine withdrawal. This means that if someone who usually drinks between one and three cups of coffee a day suddenly stops drinking it, that person could develop headaches.

Other major drawbacks of quitting the brew are anxiety, light depression and fatigue. Obviously these might seem like very severe side effects but only a minority of coffee drinkers will experience them

4 or 5 cups a day is over doing it? not here in nawlinz!!!!!!! we take our coffee SERIOUSLY!!!!!!:p

Sad but true, I'm probably addicted to the black shit. I have a big stong really black cup in the morning, probably gets about 300mg caffein in that one. It's strong and probably nasty for my stomach, because 30 minutes later I have to goo to the toilett.
Coffee rocks!

You're probably low on potassium. Low potassium levels can cause Edema (water retention) and hypoglycemia. I always feel bloated later in the day if i've had coffee in the morning. A 99mg tab of potassium usually clears it up pretty quickly (you may need more depending on how much coffee you're drinking). Coffee can cause fatigue and edema by throwing off your mineral balance, but many don't realize the symtoms because they drink coffee ALL day long. Another suggestion is to just stop drinking coffee:worried: ..........

I usually eat my morning meal (eggs, protein drink, oatmeal or cereal) an hour before my first cup of coffee. This helps combat the insulin resistance.

I live in a city that consumes more coffee per capita than any in the U.S., there is a damn coffee shop on every corner. I'm addicted to that shit.
