Are we kidding ourselves?

Hey bros, I know I am new here and my opinion doesnt mean shit, that being said, I read a thread the other day about losing what you work so hard to gain. I cant find it or I would add it, but just the same it is disturbing. I know we all have a limit to the size we can naturally achieve and after that we take gear to get larger. From the thread, it seems like eventually we all (except the genetically gifted) fall back to our old size. Is that completely true? I have worked out hard for several years and am 30. I am 5 10 and 188 with about 15% bf. I was going to do a test 500mg wk for 10 wks with 25 mg Dbol for the first 3 weeks. I know about pct and will do so accordingly , however what about a year or two down the road. I guess my question is has anyone done a cycle or two MAX and not lost their gains? I understand that you will lose a % of gains but ALL like the thread says. If anyone has the thread to link to it would be good. I think this is a serious question. I mean we risk our freedom, health and money on this and if in fact we eventually do lose 90 percent or so , then what is the point? :worried:

I am 90 years old and did 1 cycle when I was about your age and have not lostmore than say 1 percent of my gains from it.

Huck had a good post about changing your genetic limit with AAS. I think this is very true in regards to a realistic weight. If your 5'10 260 lbs ripped and expect to maintain that for years gear free, good luck! But if you end up being around 200-205 ripped, that is a very keepable weight. I'd be happy at 205-210 at 6% year round other than for contests.

why would you lose 90 % of your gains ? whoever said thats a fucking retard.

Solid gains that are made are well retained with time. The thing is is you must burn the acquisitions into your bodies own norm so that it believes it is the size that it should be. Takes time. If cycles are planned properly than that is a start. Post-cycles must also be well thought out and formulated. After that you must continue to consistently eat well, train hard, and take the proper supplementation. If you do all these things properly than yes you can maintain most of your gains from your cycles. If you slack on any of these measures, take a lot of time off, or unfortunately succomb to a severe illness than of course you will eventually lose alot of the size that you have acquired again over time. Thing that sucks the most is that you will definitely lose size and hardness faster than it takes to gain it. This is just a sad fact for most of us. Just my $.02

thanks for the info everyone. I know we all have a limit to what we can keep and sometimes I find myself eating and eating , thinking to myself, " I better choke this shake down or I am gonna start losing what I have. It is good to hear that some or most can be kept from gear. I am only around 190 and 5'10" . I would like to be about 210 solid. I am about 14-15% bf too. I would like to gain about 30 lbs of lbm in the next 2 years and lose about 5 or 6 percent b/f. I could never and dont want, need 20 inch arms. I am only 5'10 and dont wanna look like a tree stump. If I was 6'2 or taller then 20 inch arms would look correct. I guess I have a reasonable goal that sounds obtainable from everything that I have read?

Right on! I look at it like this..2 steps forward and one back....please no paula abdul jokes.

2000 6' 190ish 16%BF
2001 6' Up to 220 but ended up around 205 14%BF
2002 6' up to 250 (did 2 cycles that year) ended up around 225 12% bF
2003 6' Up to 260 (did 1 18wk cycle for a show..211 for a contest at 8%BF steadied out months later around 230 13%BF
2004 6' Up to 272 coming to the end of a 18wk cycle 246 14%BF If I did the show this year I think I would compete over 225 so that is about 15lbs more then last year. The key for me is high protein year round. Eat, train, rest and knock off drinking and rec drugs.

First, if you decide to go with that cycle, it's a very good start. My first cycle was exactly this, except I started dbol at 30mg a day, and then cut back to 20 because the pumps were killing my legs (just walking up a few steps).

Although it's generally true for most that once you go beyond your genetic point it's difficult to keep with out cycling. However, I've kept my gains, only with dedication and continue effort. However, I don't think I've reached my limit yet. Not only have I kept my first cycle gains, it’s been a year since then, and I've grown naturally since then.

Actually when you do steroids you loose 120% of youre gains. SO you should give all unused gear to me, Im willing to take the fall for you bro!!
