I'd be careful. I went to Florida a few months ago and had my military ID card in my shirt pocket. For all that have not seen them, the new ID Cards have a small metal chip in it. Well, the dude with the metal-detector wand found the f'ing card in my pocket... The chip is about 2cmX2cm... It can't be that thick either... my .02 cents

i just got mine, i had the old one for a while, but i bet it does.

Ok in the airport on my way out here (korea) I had a pack of gum in my pocket. In every airport i forgot to take it out (all 3) and they made me take my shoes off and a full search each time.

So if the aluminum wrapper on my gum set all 3 off then the aluminum tops will no doubt.

You're all wrong, aluminum is actually a plastic!!!!

DRRman is right is no.13 on the atomic chart and not a man made metal it's a element. I have not look at a atomic chart or think about it in 25 years. :o {Aluminum 26.981 Al no. 13} karma to you man:angel:

A few months ago I walked through the metal detector at the border with 6 vials in my pockets. It did NOT go off.

Hope that answers your question.

well i guess thats different than airports, cause airports dont fuck around.

But i do hear stories that people have made it, and some havent and have gone to jail. I think its a 50/50 shot. If you think it is worth it go for it, i wouldnt.

Just take your chances mailing it to a PO box in stead.

I walked through the metal detector at TJ once with my car keys and cell phone in my pocket by mistake (forgot to take them out), and nothing happened. I didnt even get a look.

I have also walked through with items containing aluminum in my pockets...again...nothing.

Metal detectors work off of magnets. A magnet won't pick up aluminum, however if you try to hide it in your carry on bag, the checker will probably spot it when it goes through the x-ray. But i'm sure you know that. Take a lttle magnet with you. If it sticks, don't try it. If it don't i'd take the chance.

don't know if anyone's posted this yet because i'm to impatient to read all the replies but......

you could go to a local club, etc.... that uses the hand held ones, walk up to the security person ask if you could try it out and see if it works ( they might say no, but i can talk people into shit real easy ).....now this doesn't guaruntee that the big ones won't catch it.......

i know it sounds pretty goofy but what the hell.......:)

Bouncer -

that's actually not a bad idea...

I never thought of that, since the club I work doesn't use metal detectors at the door - we just dress-code the gangsta punks and tell 'em to beat it... makes for some serious fireworks sometimes, but we like to keep our clientele what it is :)
