Are those 'critical update notifications' really that critical?

I always ignore them?

ummm..

depends.

Sometimes a nasty virus comes out and infects a lot of people, and these updates can help to protect against those.

So if I were you I would just install the updates. It will help keep your computer a lot safer and less infected with spyware and crap.

And if you were ever doing anything serious on your computer (like running a big business or something) then you would know that these updates are important. :)

Doing anything serious? Whew! I'm safe.

The critical updates are always for new security vulnerabilities that they've found, holes that allow bad people to exploit your system. Unless you WANT a virus or trojan, or want to be some hacker's bitch, I'd install them all.

OMG, I always click "remind me later", but 2 weeks ago I decided to install them in hopes of getting rid of that annoying pop-up asking me to install.

So I install.
Restart my computer (as it says)
and Windows will not load.

I spent 4 hours getting it fixed (and I'm fairly knowledgeable in computers), lost a lot of my programs, and nearly lost a weeks worth of work.

I'll never make that mistake again. Fuck the 'Critical Updates' & Bill Gates!
