Are body builders a cult?

LoneTree

A so-called expert, commenting on ban on prehormones, called body builders 'a cult'.
Do you agree? Are body builders a 'cult'?

yeah we are a 'cult', we also drink blood and eat the hearts of our failed bodybuilders - come on!

Bodybuilding is a sport in itself; just like Barry Bonds or some olympic runner shoots up Fina/Test and GH to play hard, BB shoot up the same to LOOK hard...it's a different use for the same drug. BB is a SPORT and people work hard to get on top - the difference in BB is that to be a great pro you have to NOT only have the ability to train, eat, shoot, sleep etc... you also need GENETICS, big time. Of course, a sport like Basketball where you need the height to play also has the same type of demeanor.

BB is JUST like any other sport, except we look MUCH better and we don't get brought on national TV for using steroids. There is no glamour in BB, we just go out there and train hard/throw up and go home. I don’t see Ronnie Coleman on ESPN 10x a day like Barry Bonds, but I’m sure Ronnie works just as hard (or harder) as Bonds. Let me just finish off saying that BB is NOT a sport you go into to make money, only the top 10 guys in the sport bring in a decent living, the rest live day-by-day with what they can get. There is no 50,000,000+ watching the Mr.O (like superbowl), there is no pay-per-view every week (like fake wrestling – pro), there is only blood, guts and sweat!

Yup, I guess that means I am part of a cult.

I think BB is a sport to a certain degree, but I'd be more inclined to say that BB is a lifestyle.

When Ironmaster used to post on this board he would commonly use the term "brotherhood", and I completely understand where he was coming from when he would say that. I feel that everyone who lives this lifestyle of pumping iron, whether you are competitive or not, is part of a brother/sisterhood that is above and beyond the "norm". We eat a certain way, train a certain way, rest a certain way, think a certain way and just flat out live a certain way that is so unique and complex one can only understand it if he/she lived it.

So yes, bodybuilders are a 'cult'... and I'm damn proud of being a member of this cult!
