America is not envied. Maybe it was at one point, but recently I think the vast majority of non americans feel very angry at the way the US government has acted. There are also a hell of a lot of blindly patriotic US citizens who can not and will not admit to themselves that they have made very bad decisions. I think a lot of this stems from the attack on NY, it has made a lot of US citizens feel very vunerable for the first time and so they whoop and holler behind a President who shouldnt be allowed to play command and conquer on a playstation, let alone be in charge of the worlds mose powerfull army. Its Americans like that who are disliked accross the world. This war on terror can never be won now. Iraq is providing a cause for more and more muslims to carry out terror attacks, and these attacks are just going to continue and continue, killing more and more people.

The world is now a much more dangerous place.

Exit strategy is a PR tool to assure the population that we won't be there forever

BUt to the administration exit strategy means turning defense over to the iraqi forces but leaving enough troops in permanent military bases to effectively control iraq through the proxy government we set up

The one hitch in that plan is that most of iraq isn't buying it. "Oh look, the americans were courteous enough to give us a leader too! All hail our new president!" NOT.
