Appearence!!

Here's the problem.... I appear a good size from the side and from the back but when I look at myself from the front I appear small I don't understand this....

is this because of little lat development or shoulders or something else?

anyone else with this same problem?
 
it's not your lats....those will make you look big from the back. It's either your shoulder width or your chest......try incorporating more lateral raises for shoulder width and flat dumbell flies for chest width.

Bigmag.. I know I don't have the widest shoulders .. but I do alot of lateral raises..my shoulders also look good from the side.. maybe it is my chest.. but my chest also looks good from the side as well..it seems like it's more in the upper outer chest area near the shoulders... not sure.. I will try doing flat dumbell flies and see if that helps....
 
If you don't look "thick enough" it's probably your chest. If you don't look wide enough it's probably your lats & or shoulder width (just because you do a lot of raises doesn't mean they are big enough). It could also be your posture or the way you carry yourself/hold your arms in front of you. Do a lat spread with your arms out of the way & see if that helps. It could also quite possibly just be your perception of yourself. People tell me all the time how big they think I am but, I do not see it, I still see myself as being small unless I have a really good pump going.
 
I don't see myself as being big unless I have a good pump as well...But I just went and did some poses and I think I have found the culprit.. I think it's my chest... it doesn't look even with the rest of my body.. it's just doesn't seem to have the developement .... I think I am going to have to rip it in half next time I hit the gym...
 
I'm the exact same way. In fact I was discussing this disturbing fact with a buddy the other day. I'm a monster form the side, but straight up I have no chest or shoulder width. From the back I'm wide as I have a wide back, but that can only really be seen from the front during a front lat spread. You lack chest and shoulder width. IT'S GENETIC. From the side I can rival anyones side chest pose and I have tree trunks running down both sides of my spine. This is all thickness. But, I lack frontal width just as you described. I have very narrow pecs and flat medial delts. You can do all the lateral raises you want and do flyes until you grow wings, but genetics has the final say in this one.
 
I have a similar problem when my BF gets a little high. It's because my delt caps aren't real round and my bicep thickness is a weakpoint.
