Apparently my computer has a virus???

My last two emails could not be sent. This is what I am told:

<<<554 TRANSACTION FAILED - Unrepairable Virus Detected. Your mail has not been sent.

I knew this would happen. What will seriously fix the problem?

Try the Symantec website, that where I'm told you should always go if you have a virus.

Firewall won't stop an email delivered virus from coming in to your system. It will probably stop an RPC attack, but not an email virus.

Depends on what ports you close.

Also, last time I saw Whizzy give IT advice I was ROTFLMAO.

Nothing personal against the guy.

You'll still get the virus and it will execute... Blocking the outbound ports might keep it from becoming fully active, but you've still got malicious code running on yer box.

It's just me, but I bet there has been a spike in firewall and antivirus sales this week.

I have helped several people last week and this week.

Got many a favor to collect when needed.

My uncle, the "computer guru" once told me that viruses are overated and not to worry about them.

I'm running the Blaster Worm removal tool right now. Since the computer is so important for the business, I'm going to buy some wirus protection.

Sounds like Symantec is recommended around here?

Ya, me likee Symantec, but they are all pretty good.

Not sure you got the blaster virus.....but you'll see soon enough

I wouldn't download an executable from Kazza UNLESS I had AV software on my computer and I scanned said downloaded executable. That network is full of virii.......

I don't have the Blaster virus or the first one you suggested. Guess I'll keep plugging away with the other possibilities.

I have got to be able to send email!

Do yourself a favor - spend the money, download AV software install, update the signatures and do a full scan of your system. It will save you time and pain in the long (and short) run.

Interesting.... If you had a virus, you'd probably have a butt load of similar emails bouncing back to you.

Were you trying to send any .exe attachments with the email?

What was in those last two emails?

I was asking questions to ebay sellers using the "ask seller a question" form. I think the problem is with my server. One of the new worms is attacking servers.

Yeah.... pay the $$ for the AV, download it tonight and scan yer stuff. You'll finish this madness quickly if you do that.

You got it chief..............am downloading right now. Can't afford to fuck around with a virus.

I'm curious to see if you actually have a virus, or if it's just a clogged / overloaded / misconfigured email server that's bouncing back your emails.

Well I had a test version of McAffee installed. I tried to uninstall it using their uninstall program I believe........could possibly have been Windows uninstall however.

It was an abortion. Would not completely uninstall and would not reinstall either. Makes a dire warning beep every time I boot up.

I though if I just bought the whole thing, the problem would be solved. Well........the new one will not install because it says I already have McAffee installed but the old one doesn't seem to work. It just gives me pissed off messages about not being 100%

It is pretty screwed up to say the least.
