Anyone who knows about suspension lowering kits i.e. Eibach.

The guy I bought my car from says he had an Eibach Pro Kit put on that lowered it 1.5". Did the struts and shocks have to be changed also, or is it just the springs that are changed? The reason I ask is, my mechanic is about to put new shocks and struts on my car and he is going with the stock replacement. Common sense tells me that the shocks and struts don't matter because they will be compressed to the point at which the springs hold the weight. Anyone with the knowledge I am seeking, please give me the answer.

You are correct, the lowered springs work with the standard shocks.

Get Konis.

have them install a big coffee can on the back of your tail pipe too

That's a relief. Do you think that Monroe Sensi-tracks are crap? Is there much of a difference between those and a set of Konis'?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. I don't drive a rice burner. Plus, I have two tailpipes. Which do you prefer, Maxwell House or Taster's Choice?

1 1/2" isn't too extreme.

I had my car lowered 1 3/4" when I bought it and it gets all kinds of compliments. There's nothing uglier than having that huge gap between the tire and wheel-well.

It doesn't reduce performance or smoothness of ride any, and it handles better.

man i have a 2000 vette lowered almost to the friggin ground i regret it

On Michigan roads, you don't want it any lower than that.

I don't know the Monroes. Monroe is usually associated with "replacement quality" shocks, not performance. Good for a mom 'n pop car. If they have a performance line, I have no idea how they stack up.

yes you can put the springs on the car with the standard struts.

The problem is that with the car lowered the struts are not designed to be put under that stress. the struts will blow out and bottom out eventually. The stock strut does not have the proper valving for the lowering springs.

the right way to do is to buy upgraded struts, that way the car will perform better and not bottom out. The car will also "track" better around corners because of the strut being smaller.

With the upgraded strut you can also adjust compression and rebound to how you like the car to feel around time.

if you want her to squat then lower compression in rear and you might pick up a tenth or so on your 60ft time.

I you want her to handle with sacraficing some ride quality jack it up and she will be tight as a witches.....you know what :)
