Anyone use Proactiv Acne Solution?

I was wondering if anyone uses the Proactiv acne solution.

I was thinking about ordering it, but wanted to know how it worked for people that have used it in the past.

I'm skeptical since you don't need a prescription to get it.

Is this stuff worth the money or is it just a waste of money?

Had horrible acne, used it and it was virtually gone in 2 weeks. Total eradication of acne took about a month.

Worth twice as much as it costs. Buy it.

I've been using it for about 4 years it cleared up my teenage acne...it works real well i'm afraid to stop using it...lol

My acne isn't that bad, but it's bad enough. A lot better than it use to be.

Last time I went to the dermatologist I got on Differin and Benza-Clin. It helped a little, but it definately didn't clear up the problem.

I've read a lot of people here talking about using Accutane. It seems like it worked, but had some decent side effects.

Warik, did your dermatologist recommend it or did you just decide to try it on your own?

Like Darktooth said, accutane is the only real wonder drug out there. It's expensive as a motherfucker, but it really does work. I get the occasional breakout on my face, and I usually have a few lumps on my traps/back...I'm on 80mg/day of accutane and it's really clearing my skin up. I'm lucky I only have to pay about $15 per package...for some people it's just not affordable ($100-$125 is average price). And yeah, the side effects suck...but they're bareable.

Also, pick up some Body Clear Bodywash from Nutrogena. You can get it in the chick section (with all the other skin-care shit girls use) at most drugstores, or at Walmart (way cheaper). It works great for light acne, although it does dry your skin out after prolonged use.

I've never tried the green tea thing before...I do drink a lot of it tho. lol I'll spalsh some on my face tongiht, just to give it a shot. :)

I used proactive during 1998, I had just moved to North Carolina, was under a lot of stress, etc. Anywho, some acne popped up, I ordered that stuff and Whammo Blammo, my acne disappeared, the stuff works. peace

Where do you get this stuff? I had clear skin until I turned 21. Now I get breakouts on occasion. Nothing real bad, but still why have even one zit if you don't have to?

I haven't tried that stuff, but I have very oily skin right now, and having constant breakouts........ I've consistantly taken 2 showers a day, used anti-bacterial soap, and no luck.....

.... I recently bought a bottle of "Clean and Clear" oily skin astringent and I haven't gotten a new pimple since.... but it's only been 4 days..... I hope it works

my neighbor swears by it. your doc would probabaly prescribe some retin-a if you asked?

i also heard accutane has some really bad side effects. is that true?

My fiance' went in to get accutane. They gave her an entire book she had to read before they would consider putting her on it. If I remember right. It is essentially a low dose of chemotheraphy. Potential for liver problems, you can't take it if you are even thinking about having kids in the near future because they WILL (not may or might) have serious problems, if they don't miscarry in the 3rd trimester.

I have heard of people having great results on it. Just not something I want her on.

I've used it for almost 5 years, and the stuff works wonders. I haven't needed to wear foundation or powder in a LONG time, and still I get tons of compliments on my skin.

One kit is only like $50, which is less than a dermatologist visit or a facial... what have you got to lose?

Tried it on my own. Everything the dermotologist recommended either did not do shit or made things worse. Don't waste your money on accutane when this stuff will work just as good or better for less.

Good luck.

Accutane isn't a fun drug -- the side effects, depending on the person, can be kinda harsh.

The biggest one is dry/chapped/cracked skin. My face get's flaky as hell if I don't use lotion every 4 hours or so...and my lips are like one big scab. lol I got through alot of chapstick (which actually helps a lot).

It's also a fairly toxic drug, and some people feel pretty run down on it. I feel ok, but I've found I have to sleep more.

Nose bleeds and dry eyes are also really common (accutane dries out EVERYTHING). I have to use Visine about once a day, and some saline nasal spray to keep everything lubed up. :)

Also, if you're female, you can't use it if you're pregnant or thinking about getting pregnant in the near future. Hell, pregnant women can't even touch the pills...it's right up there with Thalidamide for causing birth defects.

Ohter than that (plus the outragous price), it's ok. :)

I'm gonna try some of that Proactiv stuff though. It's only $50...

My boss's son uses it and it has worked very well for him.

I witnessed the before and after so I would highly recommend it.

worked for me for two weeks and then stopped

this has been the story with a bunch of people I know who used it

not worth the money
