I also do know quite a few MMA peoples as well as BBs from back in the day (Paul DeMayo I saw when I was quite young in the Wolds in Dedham, as well as Mattarazzo, etc.)
So many people have opiate habits, its not even funny, Nubain, H, Oxy's. Sorry for the soap opera, but let me tell you a little story about where this can take you. I started taking vics back when i was 27 years old for chronic bain and a myriad of surguries from sports injuries. They then started to prescribe me Oxycontin 80mgs (started with 2 a day). This went on for some time and I developed a habit without even knowing it (by then I was up to 5 80s a day). They then cut me off at the doctor and I started getting them at my work (in IT consulting back then, I was a VP of sales). My now illegal Oxy habit eventually turned into up to 20 80s a day (yes thats right). I was also by now tinkering in Dliaudid, Fentanyl, and Heroin when I could not get. The weird this is that I still maintianed a good physique and still trained consistiently (5'8'' and 220 with MMA 2-3 times a week).
I finally got fired from my 300K a year job because of taking xanax and Methadone to combat the withdrawls (I would nod off in the middle of meetings). I also got caught with like 300 Oxy's in my car and was sent away for 3 months to a min. security drug court/rehab in upstate NYC (with career felons and all, I had no record at the time). No matter though, I got out and tried to recover, but relapsed on H and was arrested in Paterson NJ with H and my Glock 40 (I had a permit in CT, but not in NJ). 2 weeks in Passaic county jail and now a Felon. This was one year ago.
To amke this long story short, do not ever think that nothing can happen to you. All actions have reactions. I thank god that I am working at the same level I once was (small SW companies do not do extensive background checks), and I am now training better than ever.
I hope this would help anyone who is thinking of trying any Opiates. Especially for us who train who are obsessive by nature.
Damn bro, good to hear you have cleaned yourself up, I know the feeling, once you start going downhill, it just gets steeper and steeper until something opens your eyes so to speak! Congrats on getting yourself back on track!!
