i saw Hero on DVD just this week. i loved it, one of the most visually pleasing movies i have ever seen. it was so much poetry for the eyes, at every turn.

it inspired my own poetry. that alone is enough to make it very good, aside from any notions of storyline or character development or fight choreography.

The movie brought tears to my eyes; it was very beautiful and i love the color changing and art of their movements.

Overall, I think crouching tiger/hidden dragon is slightly superior do to a better overall plot, but I think as far as scenery and actual fight choreography that hero is the superior movie in that respect.

As far as I know all the main actors in CT/HD were just actor's that got some martial art's training, at least Chow Yun Fat was trained, but not an actual martial artist. In Hero most of the lead characters are martial artists and the difference in the complexity and difficulty of the fight scenes is evident imho.

I have a video about chinese martial arts and it has Jet Li training at like 9 years old and he was SICK then!
