Anyone remember Ross Perot's running mate, General Stock something?

It was funny as hell during the debates because he didn't have any idea how to answer some of the questions. I'd like to see that footage again. It's like Perot picked grandpa with Alzheimer's as his running mate.

Admirable Stockdale and I just read that he died from Alzheimer's in 2005. Shitty joke, I wouldn't wish that on anyone. Maybe that's why he couldn't answer the questions. What would be my excuse?

They have a comercial on AFN here about him. He did 2 years laying down with leg and arm irons. Also he had over 4 years of solitary. I've done 3 hours of solitary in training, the first two were ok but I can't imagine 729 days, 21 hours more.

Very tough and admirable man, but he didn't have any business running for VP. Watch here at 7:12 of this video... Funny.http://youtube.com/watch?v=z5Jbmaq4YHA&mode=related&search=

I just found it funny since I just watched the stockdale commercial a few minutes ago(damn afn plays the same commercials all the time)

LOL. I think they did and Dana Carvey did Ross Perot. Funny as hell.

It's Admiral Stockdale, by the way, and anyone that voted for Perot gave us 8 years of Clinton.

Not a fan of people who would make fun of Stockdale, One of it's like kicking your own grandfather.

Dennis Miller put it succinctly in 1993:

"Now I know (Stockdale's name has) become a buzzword in this culture for doddering old man, but let's look at the record, folks. The guy was the first guy in and the last guy out of Vietnam, a war that many Americans, including our present President, did not want to dirty their hands with. The reason he had to turn his hearing aid on at that debate is because those fucking animals knocked his eardrums out when he wouldn't spill his guts. He teaches philosophy at Stanford University, he's a brilliant, sensitive, courageous man. And yet he committed the one unpardonable sin in our culture: he was bad on television."

The test of character is not 'hanging in' when you expect light at the end of the tunnel, but performance of duty, and persistence of example when you know no light is coming.
