Anyone play bagpipes?

I just got some today (along with a chanter, of course).. I'm not very muscially inclined, and I'm having a hell of a time with the damn chanter. I dunno if I messed up my reed or what, but it's sounding like the mating call of an injured mallard.

Anyhow, how long did it take you to move from chanter to the full pipes? Did you have an instructor or did you go it alone (I heard its tough as heezie to learn solo)?

Thanks for that link, Worm. I've been lookin at some different sites all day today.. I think my general music skills are way too fetal to even comprehend most of it. I'm thinking about hitting up the elementary school to get some hits on the recorder and practice "Mary Had a Little Lamb."
