Specifically:

2003 Head I-160Lightings Women's Skis 159cm.
The bindings on the skis are not demo binders.
They are a pair of Tyrolia Rail Flex-SLD-11.
Din settings run from 3-11.
The skis are 149/150 cm. in length.

Are they your skis? Both of em?

LOL I don't own them yet.......considering buying them but can't find any info online......

i always used Salamon wicked skis

i think as long as they are about chin height your good to go, (and of course how good you are)

either way, if your gunna spend any extra money its all about good boots, since you dont have those listed you must be all set there

Jen, I think those are the ski my wife own (though I have to double check).

Basically, those are "Einsteiger" (amateur) skis, for prepared slopes (don't expect to go off-piste with them) and good low-med speeds and wide turns. Your basic amateur carver (they will turn on their own).

The tyrolia bindings go with them: the ski has a built-in rail and the binding just slides in, no need to open holes in the ski: A snap to upgrade or to lend them to somebody else. Also, this system adds height to the ski, so you don't need an additional carving plate.

The DIN settings are standard, that is the range most non-pro skies will accept

What size are the skis? you say 159cms and then 150??? the should be between your shoulder (absolute shortest and your nose...This type of sky lacks the rigidity required for longer ones) Besides, for carvers, the shorter the easier, but you sacrifice stability at higher speeds.

If they are in good condition (both underside and edge) and cheap, get them.

Head is great for boots as well

I like the feeling of the head skis, very solid, but I personally use/own Blizzard skis since they are ver light

lol I do agree there are alot of assclowns out there making boarders look bad,but we arent all bad.

btw jen,id search for a ski forum, theres got to be one kicking around, they have board ones. you will get the best opinion from there

Give me Rossignol or give me Head....

I don't but skis or boots anymore, I have friends who I can rent the top from for free in Aspen. I will ask him about em, though Pinto covered them pretty well. My Advice? Rent what you want unless you live next to a slope. And don't be an OAK, snowboarding fool with a concussion,.

What is "off-piste" anyway - I have no clue.

They're 150 length - perfect for me cuz I'm only 5'4" tall. A friend is selling them & wants $275, which includes the bindings....

I'm a solid intermediate skiier who is just venturing into black diamond territory. Did my 1 & only Double Black Diamond Last year!!

No, I don't live near a slope and we have literally 1 ski shop here + Sports Authority.....

My dilema is is that if this is a good ski I don't want to miss out on getting them & get stuck demoing skis all winter. Then have to buy skis on slope for big bucks. Last season I demoed a pair of Salomon Scream skis & with the demo binding & me not being used to them I twisted my knee pretty good. So I'm not into demoing skis again.......

off-piste is off-track

The Salomon screams are very stiff. If the DIN setting on the binding was set too high no wonder you hurt your knee.

275 for these skis is not cheap

"off track" like in the trees, etc you mean? I don't really do that. Did 1 tree run last year & it was too advanced for me.

I just made a counter-offer of $200 considering they are 2003 skis & have been used about 15 times...

It's ironic you mention it about the Screams - a snowboarder cut me off on a Black Diamond Slope causing me to fall & twist my leg - ironic with the knuckledraggers posting on this thread... LOL

lol, jens if I made the horrid mistake of cutting you off and ya got hurt,id help ya up,take you to the chalet, buy you a guinness and get you anything else you may need.

but I agree to many punks get on the slopes not using their head and hurting others. now I simply push them over or punch

I was joking around anyway, but I appreciate that!!

What's funny about it now is that some little boy stopped & helped me get my ski back on. I couldn't get that darned thing back on for the life of me!!

Normally if you ski more than 12-15 days/season you are better off buying than renting. Of course it depends on the renting cost.

But then again, you cannot assign a price to the convenience of just getting there and go... with no stopping at the store and blah blah blah. I kinda prefer to buy as well since you give yourself a chance to learn your skis and get used to them.

Im with pincota, the only times ive skied were rentals and the monkey didnt set the bindings right and I kept coming out of the fucking things, for how dangerous it can be I wouldnt trust someone making 7bucks a hour to do their job everytime.

I already own a pair of skis but they are beginner skis - I need a new/better pair which is why I'm looking around......I can't ski on my skis this year....

go to the head website, they have a configurator there.

You should look for an all-round carver, middle-stiff, lenght as preferred. If the turning radius is smaller, you will have more fun with them

Stay away from women skis

Why?

I've never heard anything good from the women skiers I know concerning women skis. They all use men skis on a shorter size

They use women boots, though

Hmmmm........All my skiing friends never said anything similar....

I'm just going to stick with the boots I have.....

Since these skis are 2003s they are no longer listed on the Head Website.

$275 is only a good price if they are in great condition. Check the bindings for scuffs and possible cracks in the plastic.

You can find cheap skis with bindings for alot less. We have ski swaps here all the time where you can find new stuff.. Depending on where you are, most areas have ski swaps in October/November.

EBAY has clearance sales with new stuff....

I skied on Head skis one season but went back to Rossignols. I have Rossignols and Atomics for this year..
