They hooked the shit up yesterday. Supposed to be 3.5gps(little did i know they hook it up, but not to the net) well their little modem keeps giving me a 192 Ip, which is wrong, and I can’t connect to the net to install their software. I talked to 6 or 7 tech(people who know nothing and anyone with any experience knows this) and they all try to walk me through the basic routine of checking things, even though I told them I checked everything possible on my side before calling. But they all argue that it’s my shit, not their modem…we will see today when they send a tech out and try to fix it and I smash his head in with their modem and choke him to death with the coax cable lol

Every single tech said they never heard of the problem I was experiencing…WHY ME!!?!?!?! not to mention the house fire:FRlol:

i dont know, but your right, he was a moran. he kept on saying he was going to do things this way or that way because "it was the easiest for him" a electrician that was here at the same time even said "man, that dude obviously didnt want to work today" after the cable guy left.

Im on comcast and used a self install kit.

What Brand modem you got? You might have to reset the modem. They didnt give you a startup disc?

Is it hooked up to a router?? Mine is & that is where the 192 isp address comes from....

nope, no router, straight to my pc, and no reset switch, all the modem says is comcast on it....the cd that came with it is the comcast software, first thing it does is tries to connect to the net but cant because my ip is wrong.

I had the same problem

is it the new rca modem?

I unplugged it and sold it on ebay, than used my old cable modem from my other place

Did the tech ever show up??

If your computer is pulling a 192 isp then it must have been hooked up to a router at one point cuz the only time a computer will pull a 192 isp would be from that......it's not pulling a 192 isp cuz of the cable company I can tell you that...

Did you try ipconfig from the command prompt at all? If that doesn't work disconnect the modem from the computer, renew & release & look for a 169 ip....

Oh and also it could be that your modem hasn't been provisioned yet, or hooked up to your account, if that's the case then you won't ever get out on the 'net....
