just curious....since i'm back on my school hustle.

I'm back in school and trying to get my bachelor's wrapped up. prolly gonna take me a year and a half to get it finished, but it's really not going to do anything for me financially that i couldn't achieve now.

my ultimate aim at going back to school was to get an MBA or possibly go to law school.

but my question is this, if one goes directly from their bachelors to their MBA is it looked down upon and difficult to get a job? As far as experience goes? I"m working really hard, and trying to transfer to U of florida (Top 50 school) and knowing my test taking abilities i should do well on the GMAT and be able to go to a pretty decent grad school

I have lots of work experience and held high positions including management but all in the mortgage business and in sales...some marketing.I'm so burnt out on sales itself, so the marketing aspect appeals to me alot more.

Yeah and if you want to buy my diploma it is really pretty and big with nice writing on it, white out my name and put yours there

Having an MBA is only a good thing. Yes they tell you to get experience in between, but most don't ever get the chance to go back to school or atleast loose the opportunity to go to a great MBA program as they end up with a family. I would get your MBA from the best school posible. Plus the economy should be back on track by the time you are done!!!
And no I don't have an MBA.

CW it seems you already have the work experience unlike most peeps who go from HS to undergrad to grad without much if any work experience at all. So i wouldnt worry about that. And I believe its true. If you stop going to school after undergrad for any amount of time, then it will be harder to get yourself back into thne school mode for grad school. just go straight through. good luck.

I received my MBA from Emory in 1996. I started in 1994 -- two years after I began working full-time. For someone who is fresh out of undergrad, I'd definitely recommend working for a couple of years first. It's much easier to relate to the material with work experience. You'd also be perceived as more valuable if you have a combination of work experience and an MBA as compared to someone who has an MBA alone.

But it sounds like you've been working for some time already. There should be no experience issues with going straight from undergrad to graduate school. A lot of businesses really like people who work their way through school (undergrad or graduate school), so you have that going for you as well. The only thing I would consider is waiting to see if your employer will send you to get your MBA. You'll probably have to sign an agreement to work at that employer (or pay for part of your education) for a few years, but it looks really good when an employer decides to spend their own money furthering your education.

It wont be looked down upon if you go straight through - especially because you already have so much experience.

Dammit that is some good advice!!!

If you wanna be a super office warrior - yeah get an mba. Btw: lots of unemployed depressed mba's out there, hoping for any spreadsheet monkey job. It means little when the economy is slow or your mba is not ivy league.

And when companies do cuts - those big office mba middle-manager mba's are the first to go.
