anyone here drink Absinthe?

It's only about $60 for a good bottle... but good bottles are very hard to find because there is sooooooooooo much crappy absinthe being made and sold to the gullible. You have to really know your absinthe and absinthe maker to not get mediocre stuff.
Good absinthe is absolutely all it is cracked up to be. The effect isn't exactly like alcohol... and I don't exactly know how to describe it other than to say it is the 'creativity' drink... alcohol's buzz and something more... something timorous and ellusive.
It's called 'the green fairy'... and for a reason. Fairies are muses.
Absinthe's effect probably couldn't even be perceived by a mundane mind. I think that is part of the reason why some people swear by it and others say it is no big deal.

I've heard it has hallucigenic(sp?) properties. A friend of mind had a bottle, said it was very smiliar to a mushroom trip. I didn't get to test it.

I'd recommend anybody who goes to Europe to take a trip to the Czech Republic. It's disheveled in many places, but their currency is weak so it won't cost you much and for that you'll get good service and food. Not only do they have Absinthe but lot's of young attractive Czech women interested in getting the hell out of there!! If that doesn't float your boat, for $40 you can take your pick of hundreds of prostitutes lining the major Autobahns leading to Prague..

From what I've read, you can order a bottle overseas. The catch is, it's not illegal to purchase one, but it is illegal to drink it. I plan to buy one soon.

the real stuff was supposedly rough on the brain over time.
all I know about it is that you are supposed to pour it over sugar because it is nasty tasting (bitter I think, which would indicate it is probably basic in ph)

300g of sugar/1.0L of Absynthe. Or else get ready to puke.

you know wormwood is a weak posion right? plus anything that you have to have a special spoon and use sugar cubes just to make tolerable better make me talk to god as well... i have never had the real stuff but may try it over halloween since i know someone who has a bottle fro the czech republic.

Yes, sometimes I partake in the odd glass.
Thujone is hard to import, or more importantly harder to find a reliable source for.
As SG said, the Czechs are your friend, that's where I was first intoduced to the green shite.

The active ingredient, thujone, has also been implicated in forming brain lesions. This is why it was banned in many countries (around 1915?).
