I was thinkin about maybe doin it on the side to make some extra cash. I heard its not really that complicated and you can make like $20-30 bucks an hour.

Nope, not complicated at all. The worst you have to do is remember about 50 (that number is argueable) or so core recipes. I took a class actually last week on it. You don't have to take a class, but the offer was to good to pass up on. Being out in LA, you could make that at a club/bar easily. A word to the wise, make sure you give any applications you fill out to the owners and never to any of the other bartenders.

Yeah I was thinkin about goin to one of the bartending schools they say they have job placement and stuff and that you can usually earn between $100-300 a night including tips.

There's good cash to be made but getting hired (for a guy) is usually a problem unless there's a shortage. Most of the time (except for high class/hotels/lounges) you end up making the same drinks.

just do it!!!! Try not to drink too much though--that scene could eat you up==especially if you are into good nutrition and lifting

id never do it cuz i live for the nitelife (thursday nite fri nite and sat nite are the time i love the most so just the hours wont work for me

Here's a sugg to make u major moolah.

Adv yourself as a on-call consultant bartender. Get real good, then call owners who if they experience busy periods, can hire you on for a temp. basis. So if a club is shorthanded that night -- they can call u to come in and serve. With a 2-hour training period first of course (gotta learn that register ya know).

You'll get tons of business. #1 problem owners have is bitching ona busy night and not enuff bartenders. But don't want to permanently hire on another person.

Good friend of mine is a bartender. She is young, extremely good looking, and more importantly, knows people who work at the clubs (connections). Becuase she is new to bartending (under 6 months) she is usually placed at the slower bars. She has pulled in anywhere from $100-350/night, but I'd say her average right now is around $150/night. It's all tips mind you.

She's trying to get into a busier club (will happen soon as she knows people there), and when that happens she'll average around $300-400/night.

It's all about who you know, but as mentioned males will have a much tougher time getting in then females. No it's not a difficult job considering she didn't know how to make quite a few drinks, but she would just wing it.
