I can buy a pair of snowshoes for $100 + shipping....wonder if it's worth the investment??

Edit: Pic of the snowshoes...

I do it quite a bit here. I live in Utah. I have Big Cottonwood canyon in my back yard. You have to be careful of slides, but it's a great workout, and you can ski or board down.

Neat!! I don't think I have to worry about slides since I'd be snowshoeing in VT - not many avalanches there.......

What you think of the price?? Any opinions?

The price is reasonable. It's close to what I paid for mine.

Helluva workout too. Especially at 10,000 ft.

just do cross-country skiing its less boring!

Also, the CC ski area isn't always open as they rely on natural snow to operate it......with the snowshoes you can hike the slopes if you don't feel like skiing them - or you can take the lift up (I have a ski pass) and SS down....

Not as fun as skiiing or boarding, but a safer winter alternative that will burn a surprising amount of calories. As a kid I used to snowshoe up a mountain back home before they turned it into a skihill. Highest vertical drop in midwest too. Good workout.
