Anyone ever had a Cyst removed?

I have one on my right wrist that has come and gone in the past, but lately it is just staying. It is freaking ugly as hell. I talked to the DR about it last time and she said that you can get it cut out. Just wondering about the recovery time for anyone who has gone through it.

The "bump" on the dorsum of the hand is a ganglion cyst, which arises in the connective tissue of a joint capsule or tendon sheath. The extensor surfaces of the hands and feet are the most common sites, particularly the region of the wrist. They probably arise following trauma from focal myxoid degeneration of connective tissue to produce a cystic space. They may regress. If not, and they are painful, they can be excised. A ganglion cyst has a thin wall and is filled with clear, mucoid contents.



Based on that. I'd say just a tiny nic of a scar.. nothing to lop off... 'Mucoid' BARF:

Dude this shit is big, i would say at least a 2" scar. Nothing like what you endured, but wondering if I would be good to go for golf and training in a week

I know the OUTSIDE is big, but they aren't gonna lop the skin off with it.

The problem is subdermal.. small cut, remove inards, stitch back together.

Since it has to do with connective tissue, I don't know how it will effect your movement in your wrist - but i wouldn't count on golf right away.

Actually one of the old treatments was to take a large book like the bible and smash the wrist right on the cyst to pop the juice out. It is soft and spongy and has a liquid filling. Kinda like a twinkie?

The web md says you can get a needle to aspirate the cyst liquid and 75% of the time that is all that is needed. So 75% of the time it works ALL the time!!!

I may go that route. They say try that 3 times and if it still comes back then to go with the surgery.

had one under my right eye.. my mom passed out watching em pull all the gook out of it .. pretty fun times..
