Anyone else not feeling christmas this year?

i haven't felt xmas in a long time. it is always depressing how christmas just doesn't seem as special as it should to me

how old are you. 21? that is normal i think.

if they handed out large amounts of money & prostitutes on christmas you would be back in the spirit. but $20 toys just don't cut it anymore.

it's sad really.

Ever since I got laid off(a week or so before Thanksgiving) I've lost my happy feelings. Its sad not to be able to buy any gifts. I feel like a loser watching every one unwrap stuff and I just sit there. Hell the only chirstmas decoration I have is a rotting pumpkin from Halloween :D

WTF is Christmas?:gift: All I know this EggNogg with rum is some good shit! Burp! Sorry about the Vurp! To much egg in the nog!

It seems the holidays are only for small children and parents with small children. I'm just not feeling it either, MaG. I didn't even know today was Christmas eve until yesterday.

Don't feel bitter...you're going on a trip...the new year is coming...

This is the first year in the past 10 or 11 I haven't gone out to Cali to spend Christmas. It's feeling weird.

damn except for the your boys in Afghan there's no reason not to celebrate Christmas. I'm sure even Ben Laden can't wait to receive his PS2 from King Fahd......

I'm really sorry to hear this, man. I hope everything brightens up, come new year. You're in my prayers.

i'm good... just means i will take more chances with my life now and not take things like arguing on the internet too seriously and stuff... plus vegas will be a big ass ditraction.

if you don't feel the christmas spirit - I'm totally with you - but perhaps you could vounteer your time to some other effort, and a nice side effect might be you feel better yourself out of it.
if you go to church, help out there. or volunteer at a homeless shelter.

many times, you feel bad yourself, but helping others helps you feel good - and there is also the selfish side, where seeing that others have it so much worse than you puts it into persepective.

Starting next monday, I'm volunteering time at the local Animal Shelter. They brought the most important member of my family to me...so it's the least I can do.

Do you have children? It is hard not to appreciate Christmas when you have kids of your own and you teach them the true meaning of Christmas. You can see the excitement in their eyes and you experience it along with them.

I don't have any kids, and I guess I haven't paid that much attention to them come christmas time - but I personally never, and also have never seen a kid excited about the "true meaning" of christmas - usually they are just happy to be getting presents.

this isn't me saying that your kids aren't excited - it is more just me impressed with them - most grown ups lose sight of the true meaning as well.

Well, I just got in from Xmas Eve dinner with my partner's family and I'm feeling strangely happy.

Most members of my partner's immediate family, from rural South Carolina mainly, are religious fundamentalists. But here we are, a gay couple, amid them and totally accepted. Moreover, my partner's female cousin, who worked her way through Life Chiropractic College at a titty bar, is married to a black guy and they have two incredibly beautiful children. Another cousin, is a rap music producer and dj in black clubs, and had just got back from Chicago with his girlfriend where they had helped his best friend through his death from AIDS. My partner's father has early-stage Alzheimer's. So half the table was Af/Am, two were mixed race, two were gay...

Just your average fundamentalist American family in 2001.

A good friend of mine commented on this today, and he's atheistic. He said it pisses him off that Christmas has become such a corporate event and that it no longer represents the religious event that founded it. I was dumbfounded that such words came out of his mouth.

I'm agnostic - if you can prove it to me, then fantastic.

I see so many people wrapped up in the wrong part of the holidays, and esp christmas, that if someone is in it for the original reasons, whether I agree with it or not - it is far more impressive to me than a bunch of people whining b/c they didn't get what they wanted and people crying b/c they don't have the money to do this or that.

so in basically, I think I agree with your friend.

I love you, Happy. Fag.

So, you're dating a black guy, eh? Is there any truth to "that" myth?

Um, no. My partner is white, as are his cousins. But they are involved with Af-Ams. The babies are mixed-race.

I've certainly dated black guys in the past and, yeah, all of them had bigger brains than yours. :D

My Christmas started out shitty, and I was sure it would end shitty. Much to my surprise, I'm not ready to kill myself. :) I actually had fun. Still have a dinner to go to, but I think I can make it.

The next few days are gonna be fun though. Just one big long drunken party, right up to New Years Eve.

Merry Christmas guys. It's been pretty good this year.
