anyone doing Jr. Nationals??

I'm still a couple of years away, but maybe one day. I plan to be at least a light heavy by then though. What part of MI you from? I was born in South Bend, IN.
 
Iam originally from Wyandotte, but I live in Ann Arbor now. Not the mecca of BB but I survive. I have been competing as a lightweight for years, but finally made the move up to middleweights two years ago. I am getting down to lightweights again for Jr.s. I started dieting Jan 1st at 213pds and Iam sitting at 179 right now and kinda scared because Iam really close. (striated quads and lower back)...i will post pics soon. Probably this weekend so everyone can beat me down. hehe
 
I'm currently a middleweight, but I don't plan to be for very long. I'm weighing about 172 since I've started cutting back on water for my show on Sat. You must look like a house at 213, heck at 179 for that matter. Can't wait to see pics.
 
Yeah...not a house, maybe a small trailer. hehe...no Actually most of my friends think I look way bigger now than I do at 200-210..I don't let my stomach get to out of control (try to keep medium abs)...but just get "thicker".
Just checked your pics...look good man. Your upper body looks really good. A little tighter in the legs and you will do really well.
I will try to post pics this weekend.

Thanks for the compliment. I've started dropping water and my legs are coming together. I doubt they'll be like yours were on that side-tri shot you posted, but they should be pretty good. I look forward to seeing the pics. How tall are you?
 
I used to train at Rob's...when it was on Dix. I have been down there a few times at the one on Northline. I did train at powerhouse in LP for awhile.

Height- I am towering at 5'5"..haha. That pick of my side tricep shoot isn't even a good pic. I sent him a few pics that look better..I will try to get those posted this weekend. I have the bad habit of OVERDIETING though. When I won the lightweights at the Michigan in 2000, I weighed in at 149...I lost to much weight in the last two weeks. kinda sucked. I have learned my lesson since then. oh yeah, Titles in Michigan..ok now Iam bragging, 1998 Mr. Detroit, 1998 Mr. Michigan (novice) Overall winner, 1999 Lightweight Mr. Michigan, 2000 same, 2002 Middleweight class.

I have done a few shows out west. Gold's classic (2nd middleweight), Mr NewMexico AAU overall winner. (yeah I was natural MOST of my competitions).

I hope ya don't mind if I pick your brain sometimes then, for contest prep info and what not. This will be my 3rd show, so I'm learning all the time (hopefully that never stops) but I would love to know some of what you have learned through trial and error. I'll start by asking is there any thing you like to eat the night before or morning of prejudging that you believe helps you to maintain your fullness/hardness. Have you ever used glycerol? That's two questions I know, but hook a brutha up. Rock on for us short guys.
 
well...couple things I have done that have worked for me. Thursday at 8pm I drop water..TEN days out I start diarex (OTC) from meijer. 5 tabs 6am 5 tabs 6pm. (12 hrs apart). One week before show drop ALL protein shakes, use only whole food! I never drop sodium. Depending on how "dry" Iam I will drop my carbs to DRY carbs only..(rice cakes) and vegtables only for the week before the show. AS for glycerol...man don't let this out and I hate to tell people this too. Because it does help so damn much! Because Iam a lightweight/middleweight I take 2 tablespoons at 930am and I can time it just right. By 1200...iam ready. Pumped and vascular. PLUS i don't cramp. It is kinda funny because I stay full the whole pre-judging. I see some guys will get flat if they don't use glycerol. ONE THING...no water with that! you will float!!!!!!!! any water on the skin will get pulled into the muscle with glycerol.

as far as foods?? I have a thing for egg whites. PLAIN..with a dap of mustand on them. That is about it. I usually eat 1/2 sweet pototoe (medium size)...but that is usually it. Iam usually to geeked to even think about it.

One other thing. Some people DON'T agree with me on this, but I have helped 4 people to state titles. (night before show) preparation H on your abs at night and lower glutes. stinks but does pull water.

buy 3-4 packs of bubble yum(watermelon)...and chew and spit. FOR about 30 minutes only. in the morning. after you take glycerol. DON'T SWALLOW...just chew and spit..
 
Brother, you are the man for sharing that with me. I sure appreciate it. Some of that stuff I have heard of (the PH) for example and some of it is new to me. I'm gonna give them a shot and see what happens. Thanks again, my man.
