one of my best friends just found out he passed Level III a few days ago. He'll get a raise and he needed it to be a portfolio manager which is what he will be doing. I looked into it but it wasn't necessary for me.
Here is a link with hundreds of people discussing their individual experiences on a forum, you can ask questions etc... it seems like CFA is becoming just something you have to have to even be considered for some jobs rather than something special. Check it out:
Bran, to become a portfolio manager/asset manager in our company, you'll need an MBA but they are making more and more strides to include a CFA. I'm VERY interested in pursuing this.
My company actually pays for this - SOO intense from what they tell me tests are only twice a year so study from say july to december for test in december - if you fail you have to wait till June to take again!!! NUTZ

In Texas, the test is only held ONCE per year - June. Took my friend 5 years to finally pass them all (so he failed level II once and level III once)
but he's through it now, one of his friends just failed level II for the 3rd year in a row - and said screw it - he's giving up.
