any suggestions for a guy like this?

Holy Moly I don't know if this is a serious post or not (I'm not used to seeing naked fat guys post their pitures). If this is for real and this guy wants to lose weight I would suggest a very low carb keto diet and a program of cardio and weight training. If this is too slow or difficult to stick to then he may want to consider gastric ring/stapling and liposuction. Anyway he goes it's gonna take time and patience and should be done under close supervision of a deitician and physician. Is that you irvin??

Ummm, I think it's important that he diets and uses ergogenic supplements under the supervision a physician/dietician. This is true for everyone to a certain extent, but if he has high BP, or other compilicating factors of obesity, and he starts taking clen or ECA AND exercising it could spell very bad news for his heart. He should also have his thyroid checked out, fasting glucose tolerance tested, cholesterol yada yada yada.

his thyroid is ok
bb is kinda normal
140/90
and total cholesterol is 240

140/90 is borderline on high bp. best to get his docs permission. his cholesterol is high too. i would send him to a dietician for meal planning/reeducation. he can train but it will take a bit to get him into a normal routine, he cant just jump in full steam. chances are he has postural issues, flexibility, coordination as well as endurance issues. not too difficult though, it will just take time.

his eating habits will make the biggest difference right off the bat though.

hey this guy is big, but look I can only tell you one thing, I've worked w/ a few obese people..the answer is>>>
NO CARBS...period, and start appetite supresants...if not it will be a long bumpy road
KETOSIS all the way

Mr.X:cool:

Thats the same guy who always ends up sitting next to me on a plane.
There's not much this guy couldn't do and not improve his appearance-miss a meal-take a walk being 2 of them.

shit im about his size...but i some more muscle and im about to be 18...other then that i know what the guys going though. i dont really agrea with the keto, i mean i find it really really hard to do it, im try right now somthing like body for life, hope it works:D

they do u know his body fat? mines about 54-56 % and im 450-460 at 6'

Damn I have no idea, how long it would take but I can tell you the fat should drop pretty damn fast once he gets in gear. Its easy to drop fat when you at such a high BF%, I definitly say appetite surpressants would probably do the most good. I agree the stimulants are probably not a good idea yet. Start out walking alot.

Good luck to him, really hope he stays motivated.

big calvin

No doubt about it, ketogenic diets are tough. But they are meant for the short term, certainly not the long term.

His metabolism needs to be rekindled, more than anything. If he eats 5-6 meals a day, eats clean, and starts walking (carefully, as it's a lot of strain on his feet and knees), he will improve and drop fat. Very heavy people actually don't always eat that much, but their metabolisms are so slow, everything they eat goes straight to fat.

Ketogenic diets work well for very heavy people because they can feel satisfied--the psychological aspects of being this size and then dieting are devastating! Show a little compassion, guys--it's no fun at that size.

Big Cal--hang in there--the first week or so of low carb is a drag, but it gets much better! Frankly--any healthy diet you follow will make changes for you. Good Luck!

thats the biggest roll of fat i have ever seen

What the fuck is wrong with you! Guys in here trying to get help and you flame him? Post your pics! Lets see how buff you are!!!!!!! Your probably some 12 year old with string bean arms!

I hate people like this!!!!:redhot:

I disagree with what has been said so far. I would advise him to start out slowly eating 5-6 times a day, which he probably does anyway, and lower calories gradually. It will be easy because he probably eats terrible shit anyway. Instead of eating crap 5 times a day, let him eat crap once a day and eventually he will clean up his other eating habbits.

I've worked with a friend of mine named Steve that weighed 290lbs at 5'8. This was in High School. We made a couple of modifications (No more twinkies and little debbies, eating more good food at lunch and much less at dinner, eating dinner earlier, drinking more water..etc), and he dropped 30 lbs within a few weeks with practically no effort. Let him make small modifications, and eventually he will be able to get on a real diet and exercise program.

Oh yeah, the appetite supp. is a must.

If you're looking for over the counter products here are my recommendations. Adipo-Kinetic, Lipo-Kinetic, Hydroxicut, or Extreme Ripped Fuel.

NOTE: Due to his BP, these products may not be advisable. Also, the Adipo and Lipo-Kinetic products tend to be a bit much for the beginner. I've known people to get sick from taking them.

Hope this helps and good luck...

p.s. I dropped from 210 to 175 in 3 months from cardio adn dieting, so you can definatly see results with just a little effort.

The thing is the guy doesnt want to lose the weight too fast cause he is left with a lot of extra skin and then faces surgery, I think first is to go talk to a psychologist cause this MF has some serious "issues" with food, but when you are this fat it is easy to lose fat,, hell if he got down to 300lbs he would feel like a new man, the thing is he has to lift weights ,even if he just starts with the bar cause he needs to gain muscle volume to fill in the empty space that is created by the fat leaving , Probably in 3 years he would be at a bodyfat percentage he would be happy with but when you are this fat is more more a question of your mental health than your physical health, people who do this to them selves usually have more going on than a love of food! He might have to start talking about his feelings!!!! lol

thats what my PT said, but i think its to gay bro :D

but i mean why would that help? i mean i find out i eat cause i wasnt loved or some shit, so what what can i do about that? u get what i mean? ...your right about we can lose alot of weight with out effert. i lost 40-45lbs in 2 months just cleaning my diet and training. no cardio. so yeah it is easy but like problem is when im on one diet, i start to think what if theres better diet? and then switch...then when im on that diet i start to think maybe the other way was better? and switch again...ohh and inbetween i cheat and binge cause of all the yo yo stuff....:bawling: its hard mentally but physical is very easy.

For people this size a diet is not the solution, it's a gradual lifestyle change. At that point your body is dying to lose weight, instead of eating 2 supersized value meals, eating a large hamburger with no fries and a diet coke would make a huge difference.

I started dieting at 210lbs at 5'9 in the 20% BF range. I didn't go on a diet right away. I lost 6 lbs in 2 months by cutting out late night snacks and soda with meals, and eating 5 meals instead of 3-4. When I got down to 204, I joined a gym and started doing cardio in the morning, and working on a balanced meal plan. I got down to 195 within 2 months, eating 6 balanced meals, and drinking 2 gallons of water a day. I took up weight lifting again, focusing on rehabilatating my injured shoulder. After taking a week off, I started a more sophisticated and strict diet of carb rotation. I did it for a month and I went down to 191 actually gaining muscle in the process. I then added an ec stack for another month, and went down to 188 after the first week, and going too far with the dieting I lost some muscle and went down to 183. I freaked out, and I gradually got off my diet, and gained all the muscle back and then some.

I am now 191lbs and gainning muscle every day and I am leaner than ever.

The first day back to the gym, I couldn't even press 20 lb dbs. Now, 2-3 months later I'm pressing 70 lb dbs. I may not be using as much weight as I did before my injury, but I am improving everyday.

I forgot what my point was! :o

Oh, yeah losing weight is a gradual process. Someone who is 12% BF looking to lose fat, needs go on a diet. At 50% BF, your lifestyle needs to change. Keto diets or any othe shock diets are only temporary solutions.

BigAndy is right.

This guy needs to start making some slight modifications in his life style. Not anything too drastic, but enough to help him slowly shed the weight. Once he sees some of the weight dropping, he should get some motivation to keep with it and improve some more on his diet and then add some simple walking (even 1 hour every evening would be a huge benefit to him!!).

When people are this big, I am willing to bet that in the past they have tried dieting, but always failed because they forced there body to make too drastic a change at once. The only thing that will help him is himself after he sees results.

The Doc

KETO!

Get this guy on a ketogenic diet before he hurts himself. Or any low carb diet - Protein Power is pretty easy to pull off. If he knows nothing or cares nothing about serious body building - get him the Protein Power book.

Nothing fancy or too difficult.

I wouldn't start with any exercise (except a little more walking), until he lost some significant weight - and then he should start lifting some.

As far as the slightly elevated BP - My boyfriend was on BP meds for 5 years.

I put him on a ketogenic diet, he dropped from 235 to 195 in 5 months. His blood pressure went down to normal and we threw those god-damned woody-killing BP pills in the trash!

This guy's BP will go down naturally as he loses weight. It's more of a miracle his BP isn't higher, considering all the area the blood has to cover.

Honestly your a waist. Society can do well with out belligerent mouth offs of your nature. Guy asks for help, you flame him. Who needs you?

Irvinbbbb
I was big before, its a long hard road. I was 200lbs at about 40% bf. I started lifting, cardio, and starving myself and went down to 150lbs in about 8mo. Course I lost muscle, but didn't really have much to loose at start. I burnt out then started training again with the help of another forum much like this one I learned how to eat and train correctly. Right now, after 2years of training I am 195 at about 18% bf and dieting. Gained some fat off couple bulking cycles. I wish your friend all the best, he can do it, going to take time and dedication. I don't recommend he do it the way I did, just sharing some inspiration.
Good luck

Still not sure this request for help is authentic, but if it is, the last thing this grossly obese person needs is lots of detailed specific weight lifting techniques and complex dieting tips. He should -in conjunction with a doctor- merely alter his eating habits to reduce the junk fat and excessive carbs he's obviously ingesting all day and begin a simple unstrenuous cardio routine that can be altered as he makes progress. At that size/weight the simplest/healthiest changes will show huge payoffs. The tricky detailed stuff comes in to play when he's trying to lose the final 50 - 60 lbs and after his exercise routines have advanced with his weight loss.

providian's right...

a lifestyle change is what he needs and that is accomplished gradually. first step might be to get him walking easy for like 20, 30 minutes a day and begin to replace some of the junk food with good food. can't just slash out all the junk food right away if he's used to eating it all the time, it will be too drastic a change and he will feel deprived. just a little less at first, then a little less than that.

fill a gun up (all six chambers) and shoot yourself in the head. That would be my suggestion.

Thats a big dude but its not impossible. He would just have to be very dedicated to lose all that fat. I had a buddy who was around 380 and now is 190. Took him about three years to do it but he did. Eats one big meal a day and walks 8 miles every single day. So yes its possible but all up to him if he's ready for the challenge...

This guy is in such POOR condition that the most important thing for him to do is simple .. REDUCE DAILY CALORIC CONSUMPTION. Then incorporate a light cardio session 5 x week... hell just have the guy walk up a 10 step flight of stairs 2 times. Putting someone like this on a KETOSIS , or Anabolic diet is bad comedy.

Hey for a guy like this, the best and safest way to get going is a balanced diet and lots of cardio man, DO NOT start out with any stimulants bro, tell you "bro" to get with a nutrianist that can help with meals, cardio 20 min in the morning and 20 minutes at night before he goes into hibronation I mean to bed, do this until he get use to the 20 minute cardio then take it up ten minutes at a time till he reaches an hour in the morning and an hour in the evening remember diet diet diet, main goal for him right now should be to get BP down, and get his heart use to the stress that cardio will inflict, Dont start out all crazy take it slow!

some of you need to stand down...

Look, some of these comments are unwarranted. At least the guy wants to change. For that I give him credit. He may not know how but at least he is willint to try. So that "shoot yourself in the head" bullshit is...well...ill stop now.

My advice is, he needs a gradual lifestyle change. Start exercising more, walking ought to do the trick at first, and start eating healthier foods but maybe 4-6 times meals per day (obviously smaller meals) and count calories like hell so you know what's goin in.

Just my $0.02, never known anyone that large though I've known a 300lb fat guy who slimmed over 2 years.

It's gonna be a LONG HAUL, don't look for immediate results :)

on jan 14,01 i went to the doctor for a check up i have always been fat but when i jumped on the scale and it hit 358 i shit a brick. in colege and high school i was very athletic even at 275 i played sports and worked out power lifting style. well i got my bf% checked 358 and 37 % bf. since jan first till today this is what i have done

changed my diet i have ate mcdonalds once since that day and it was a chicken sandwtch no fries and water.

i cut out all fast food this is from some one who was eating a double quater pounder and a regular 1/4 lbder super size fries and large shake. at least 3 times a week.

i would eat maybe twice a day
now i eat 5-6 times
i limit my carbs to 75-100 per day only in the morning and right after my workout
i try to get 300 grmas of protien a day
and keep fat around 20 grams not counting a table spoon of flax seed oil
i lift heavy and hard once a week body part split and do cardio 6 days a week firtst thing in the morning using the 20 min arobic solution the only day i don't cardio is on leg day and i have thrown up after a heavy leg day.

sometimes i will do 40 min of cardio
i have went from 355 lbs to yestserday 302 lbs and 28% b.f
depending on what you want to do is how you should work out to keep large muscle go heavy and hard get enough protien and stay away from the scale. rember 1 gallon of water weights 8 lbs

MY First Post on this board

Good for your friend... First step on his journey is deciding he needs to do it.

Here's me 2 months ago. 5'9" tall 251lbs 39%bf after several accidents and surgeries always detering me from getting back to the gym. 46" waist

Here's me now. 5'9" 212 lbs 26%bf with a 38"-40" waist.

How did I do it (bad knee rules out most of the cardio I used to do).????
No more Coke only diet cola and water. No juice too much sugar, Carbs down to a minimum without hating my diet (think about it if you are used to having Steak, baked potatoe, peas, and rice - double your protein cut your carbs in half thats a huge difference. I know I wasn't in Ketosis except maybe my first week. I never do fast food more than 1 X per week. (Everyone deserves a treat just don't gorge yourself). I ate 4 eggs and 4 strips of bacon for breakfast then a steak and green beans for lunch then chicken and a potatoe for dinner. slices of ham for a snack if I got hungry for a snack. (I also cut out caffeine). 1st week I felt tired and drained for 3 or 4 days then energy came full force.
What did I do for excercise? hmm I lifted my arm to point my remote at the tv, I did a sawing motion to cut my meats.. thats pretty much it for my first 2 months. The high blood pressure and extra weight on my weakened knee prevented anything more. Now that I'm close to 200 lbs I'm going to start walking, quit smoking again, start jogging once I can breath walking. My blood pressure is normal now after loosing the 40 lbs, I feel much better. Tell him to start slow on the effort... I did and got surprising results of 25lbs my first month and 15 my 2nd. This month I'll encorporate workouts and cardio and hopefully get down to under 200lbs plus put on some solid muscle again. I have been debating doing CLEN but haven't heard enough about it yet.

Well thats my story in a nutshell.. I'm on my way back to a good body as long as my knee and shoulder don't fail me. GOOD LUCK TO YOUR FRIEND.
If he says he'll start next week... Tell him ok.. start that stuff next week but stop drinking soda and juice now. Switch to Diet Coke, Diet Pepsi Pepsi One or something with no calories or sugar. That and water.. I think that made a huge difference alone. Think of the hundreds of calories he is drinking every day (not even satisfying calories of eating). Then each week add another step.

Sorry this has been so long but I'm new and wanted to offer what little info I have to someone who may benefit from something I say. Anyone in my situation with some good Clen advice feel free to email me. (Plus whats a good price for it)? I'm always looking for helpful tips on things I can do.

Jalbs,

Excellent progress, keep it up!

Onto the poster- just make sure he stays focused. This isnt going to be any easy journey or a fast one.

He made two brilliant choices and one of them was having you find this site. You have tons of very knowledgable people on this site that can help and thats definitely going to be a big step in the right direction.

Make sure you keep him focused and a year from now he won't even recognize the man in the picture :)

it amazes me that most of you guys think that this guy eats just crap foods, he doesnt drink coke (just diet coke and diet sodas), he eats lots of protein and yes some fast food too but not that much, you will be supriksed to see that his diet is not as unhealthy as you think, at least not what i have seen

an update

my obese friend visited his md for a physical after a week of his "new" lifestyle
his bf% is over 65%, bp still high, cholesterol levels increased over 10% (yes, in two weeks) and seems no big results from keto type diet
(i dont know if he is cheating on his diet or not)
doctor thinks keto is not a good solution for a guy as big as he is, wants to try stomach surgery as soon as possible (thinks might be too late for a stomach surgery if he develops other heart problems), tried to walk but suffers from his joints and the extreme heat, also his thighs rub each other and caused him terrible pain in his inner thighs, lots of scars there

Liposuction and Stomach Staples actually seems like a logical choice here.

whatever you do, as prolly has been said before, he should go to a nutricionist or md. first to get his cholesterol etc levels all checked and see what would be appropriate for him. maybe he has a thyroid disfunction etc.

watch out, don't play with fire man, this can be dangerous, especially a keto diet. WTF? This guy's chol levels are over the roof ! keto diet ? MY ASS! gimme a break mr. x.

i bet someone has already posted something similar, i haven't read the entire post, as i am short of time, just wanted to get my reply in (exams, yeah baby).

Peace

My brother in law was in a similar postion. Good for your friend for wanting to take steps. Anyway, brother in law lost about 200 lbs in 3 months by doing Atkins and walking. Good Luck!

Man, I think this dude can really benefit from a modified keto diet.

Look, on any keto diet, your going to see an increase in cholesterol your first 2 weeks. Overall, I lost 100lbs in 8 months on Atkins along with lowering BP and Cholesterol.

What I would stick him on is a diet that consists mainly of grilled chicken, fish and vegtables like green beans, broccoli, boiled egg whites, etc. There's no way he can't stick on it for a month. I didn't cheat for a YEAR and I was 300lbs, if I were that big I could stick with it indefinately lol.

My own theory is that someone that big probably has serious metabolism problems and he also might have problems dropping into ketosis. If he can stick with it for a month, only drinking water and avoiding the more fatty meats I'd be willing to put money on him dropping into ketosis and slimming down without having his cholesterol suffer. Hell man, I dropped 25lbs my first month (water). I bet your friend can do the same thing.

where the hell did this thread come from.

While it`s here, How`s that guy doing? It`s been 2 years.
