Did the Saints make a "franchise" type of selection getting Drew Brees?

I've really never followed his career.

and who knows how good he will be after the shoulder injury, i still think the saints are going to draft a qb and dump his ass after one year

i know edge left, but I am saying that all great QBs have a good support staff. Don't hold it against them.

They have had the best offseason by far and won one game in the playoffs last year.

I have been a Bolts fan for about 13 years now. Brees is a solid quarterback, nothing phenomenal. He is pretty consistent and doesn't make many mistakes, but he doesn't win games for you either. He's very middle of the road, only an intermediate passer. He can't throw the deep ball, take LT out of the Chargers backfield and see how bad his numbers would suck.
