I'm learning it right now. It's actually the bane of my existence. Just curious about anyone out there.

I predict this thread being buried w/ zero responses in 2 hours.

OMG a response! lol

Well I'm learning it for a class. And definately not fun. you?
Learned when it was still kinda new.
Graphic applets got replaced by shockwave/flash.
If you know C++, this will come naturally.
Both are object-oriented, and the syntax is simillair.

Yeah my TA often relates things to C++ which I never learned so it doesn't help, lol.

The last programming language I learned was QBASIC which I taught myself in 5th grade, lol :nerd:

Oh boy, then you got some learning to do.
Are you using an IDE or you writing free hand then test compiling?

If you're doing simple stuff. I'd used Textpad.
If you're into more advanced stuff, get a cracked version of Borland.

It's mostly intro stuff, I do use textpad - our professor recommended it.

He gives us the pseudo code and we write and test compile from there.

Don't let anyone fool you with oop. It's still a procedural world and you can still think of procedures and sub procedures. OOP is more of a theory of design and packaging than anything. Think of modular construction and you have the basic principle.

Java: How to Program by deitela nd deitel is a good intro book as is Thinking in Java.

Awesome. I'll be using that - I searched a bunch of times for sites when I ran into problems

Business management. I've always been a computer :nerd: so I take some computer science classes as extras. This is mostly an intro class so it'll be an easy A

I just built my own computer last weekend. It went pretty well.

.NET owns Java. Whatever you can do in Java, you can do more securely, more stable, and best of all FASTER in .NET.

I use it for all my shit. The days of having thousands of hours to kill on writing stupid "reinvent the wheel" application codes are gone. I gotsta money to make yo!
