I've got some BS with the X, and I'm trying to take care of it myself, I'm alot cheaper than a lawyer.
Anyway, any on got any info on getting someone served? She lives in a different state (cali) so I can't just look in the yellow pages.

When you say X, are you saying that you are still married but just seperated? If so you can serve them via mail, they will just have to sign off when they recieve the papers. At least that's how my ex-wife and myself did it. But then we both agreed to that and knew it was coming, not sure if that makes a difference or not.

Do cops do that? I thought it was more like private companies. Maybe I'll call some places around here and see if they can recomend someone.

well, if you're filing in court, then you should be able to have it forewarded to the county she's living in and have the papers served, in which case she will have to sign giving you legal documentation that she recieved them and she has X amount of days to offically respond.

Naw, we've been divorced for years, theres a court thing with my kid. I have custody, but I'm trying to get her name changed.

Look for a process server in the county where she lives. They're in the yellow pages. They'll charge you like 50 bucks.
