At sparring class tonight we were doing variations of stop-hits and other offensive/defensive techniques -- one of these being stopping a grappler. Basically one guy would try to catch his opponent off guard and take him down by the legs. The other guy would strike the attacker's head as he came in.
After the class, one of the students told me that the guys in the UFC never do this because there is a rule stating that once the grappler's knee touches the ground (as he is entering), it is illegal for the defender to strike the grappler's head. Is there any truth to this? Off the top of my head I couldn't recall this ever happening in a UFC fight.
Thanks
