I had a buddy who got out of the Corps recently, was certified in the state of NC. He moved back to Illinois, where he has to take their test. He's trying to become a fire fighter.

It all depends on your level of EMT training. I was an EMT Intermediate (until I let my certification drop...) and I know in Houston, TX EMTs are making about $13 - 15 dollars/hour average. You need at least an EMT Paramedic certification to make any real money.
