i'm thinking about going back to doing EMT work. i'm already certified and shit...i just need something with flexible hours that actually pays semi-decent.

I had a buddy who got out of the Corps recently, was certified in the state of NC. He moved back to Illinois, where he has to take their test. He's trying to become a fire fighter.

Sometimes I wish I never got certified, but I had to. Now I keep it for my own benefit for when I have kids.

pretty much any part time EMT position will blow ass..

unless you can find a position with a FD or ems system, but that will be a stretch... but the private end of it blows

your location will have a huge impact on the need/employment of basics

Pretty good shortage in MD. emt's can pretty much set their own hours, and are being paid almost 18 an hour wich isnt too bad for part time work.

It all depends on your level of EMT training. I was an EMT Intermediate (until I let my certification drop...) and I know in Houston, TX EMTs are making about $13 - 15 dollars/hour average. You need at least an EMT Paramedic certification to make any real money.
