Specifically Anti Slip Regulation and how it relates to ABS?

My Passat's ASR light pops on while driving, then goes out and the ABS light comes on.

My understanding is that ASR kills the engine breifly if your front tires are spinning quicker than the rear, but anybody know why the ABS light would pop on as well?

Yeah, notice how just about everything ends with "see the dealer". VW's suck. They even tell you to bring the car in to replace a headlight bulb.

VW's have never been known for reliabliy ... the current Ford offerings are FAR superior, as is the current generation Korean makes (KIA/Hyundai)

btw, this guy rotated his tires and fixed the problem
