You can learn the facts, organize an outline, but when push comes to shove, you can just talk, because it's in your heart, not on an index card. Makes for a beautiful delivery.
spatts said:That's normal. Everyone's different. I just memorize facts and staticis then get up and talk. 80% of people aren't listening anyway. LOL They're all sitting there worrying about THEIR speech, and judging your appearance and delivery. I like to just look them dead in the eye and talk. If there aren't any rules, you can't break em.
Alot of people need/use note cards. There's no problem with that, especially if you don't read them word for word.
PIcking a topic you enjoy will make you more comfortable and may increase your confidence in delivery.
Are there other topics that really get you? Pet peeves? What do you hear about on the news or in conversations that really makes you bristle up?

I searched through all your back posts trying to find a benign topic you're passionate about, and most of them are about girls, gear, and training. So, no suggestions there.
Playing devil's advocate and pursuading people to NOT go to college based on the financial statistics of all the Fortune 500 CEO's who barely finished high school would be funny.![]()
Whiskey said:best one ever, "Why you should eat." I used it in my speech class, got an A on it too. Use reasons like how what foods can make you horny, make you gain weight, what can heal. And for your final reason on why you should eat....
If you don't you will go to hell!!!!!!!!! Since it is a sin to commit suicide, and not eating would be doing jsut that, if you want to go to heaven, please, please eat your food!!

spatts said:RE: The first topic. There's a counter argument there. Sure, more people die in car accidents than in plane crashes.
BUT
If you get in a car accident you have a better chance of survivng than if you are in a plane crash.
So which is more fatal?
On one hand, there are fewer planes crashed, but on the other hand, most are fatal. Is it safer?

Don't forget that you can make an informative speech pursuasive by presenting the information, and then conlcuding with a stance regarding that information.
