Another reason I'm better than you

What do you do with your spare change?

Pops got me in the habit of keeping it in a big ass jar. The only way to approach a project such as this is with 100% patience and commitment. Which I did. Probably started when I was 19 or so. I'd try to forget about the jar and every year and a half or so (some times more, some times less) I'd empty it out and count it. Since I began I have used this change to purchase:

- DVD player
- Farmer's walk implements
- Playstation 3

Just counted the jar again. $276.

Time for KB to get his pretty little self sum'n special.

I do this for my kids... I have a huge kentwood water bottle and when it gets half full I bring it to the bank and cash out. We all contribute to the bottle... If they don't use their snack money daily they put it in the bottle... I empty out my change every day into it. Its amazing how quick it adds up.

Hi slut

I used to do that when I was younger. I had a Mariott ice bucket, usually had 300-350 bucks in it when it was full. Now that I have a son, I put my silver in the 5 gallon Ozarka water bottle, it's about 1/2 full now. They say that by keeping it for so long, the time it takes to fill it, that the money would be better put to use in a CD or at least a savings acount. Meh, we like filling it up, and the savings is only about 2% or something, the CD idea is a better one, but it's fun just to guess how much one will hold when full. The bank won't take loose change, it's gonna be a bitch to count. The counting machines you see around want 8.5%, I thought it was a pretty good deal, wifey says no, she'll count it, I bet. we'll see.....

Someone bump my thread about getting rolled by a homeless fucker when I was too sore to chase him. I was a victim I tell ya.

why you counting it dude?
Most banks have Coinstar now, for no fee.

I save all my change as well, last cash in was around $300(probably 8-10mos in change)

banks have the Coinstar? Ours don't here in podunk, I'll have to see if I can find one when the time comes. Like I said, the Coinstar is in our grocery store, it wants 8.5%. Are you shure about that Yos?

Anybody else have said machine in their bank that is free to use?

yeah meng, no charge coinstar at the bank.
Anyone can use it too, you dont have to have an account there.

Check out their website, Im not sure if it lists the bank sites as well, but worth a shot.

Never heard of a no charge coinstar. The ones I use in the grocery market charge like 8 cents on the dollar.

I just counted the quarters cause I was like a giddy little kid.

I dump mine in a coinstar machine every couple of weeks...there's one at the grocery store I hit up before I get my groceries

I always feel like such a scumbag when I'm coinstar'n it up. It's so fucking loud too. All that metal on metal clankin around for like 10 minutes.

I haven't carried my money in a wallet in about 12 years. I carry a card wallet thing, but no men in my family carry their $$$ in a wallet.

Pops wraps his bills around his credit cards and rubber bands the whole wad

i have to save change--my wife lets me spend $50/week --i think i am 400 years away from a new eddy merckx road bike--wooo hooo

I've kept mine in an old jar of EAS Synthevol since freshman year of school....so about 8 years. Much change has been amassed since then. Much better than throwing it away like MTS probably would.

I donate it all anyhow....our major grocery store takes Coinstar donations and in turn donates food to the local homeless shelters...

Ours does too. They all do.

But fuck that, this is my money.

When I state donate, they donate tens of millions to our local foodbank. The donations cover the transportation expenses. We built a new $20 Million storage/processing warehouse for this.

Our local colleges donate leftover food daily.

There's prolly enough in there to come visit a brotha and get your sexual chocolate on.

i dont have a wallet (i just take ID/cards/cash when i go out, money clip sort of thing) and so dump all my coins at home. its quite rare taht i dont have half a pillowcase full of coins. when i left my hometown, i left $2000 in coins in my safe (that has probably beed raided by my dad, but anyway) and since getting here, have accrued another $500 bucks worth or so

my car is worth less than my coin stash. taht has to make you LOL ;)

my wife and I take everything less than 5 in our pocket everyday day and put it all in a 5gal water bottle. At the end of the year we use it for X-mas presents for the kids and throw some in there bank account. We normally end up with a couple thousand saved. Make for a good xmas for the kids.

I only carry about $40 at most.

Why Im better than you?

I dont have time to count change and actually bring it to the bank and have them do it.

We usually just buy grocery's with the extra coin or the teenage daughter steals it for some yay.

I just recently used a coinstar for the first time. It was Sunday and banks were closed. I had forgotten to deposit my paycheck and had just paid a major bill that I had so I was broke. I finally took my change in but I was wearing sweats, a hoodie and a beanie. I was unshaven and even had on fingerless gloves. I looked like a disheveled hobo. I put in the change and the whole damn grocery store could hear and not less than 15 hot chicks looking at me like I was homeless. Never again will I use a grocery store coinstar.

Average of lets say 4 bucks a day is around 1500. 4 bucks really isn't alot of money. i waist probably more than 4 bucks a day on junk.
I also quit smoking so i put all that away too in an account. It's money i will never miss because i was already spending it.

Then either you are cashing in 3 quarters, have a bank with too much time on its hands, or have enough time to roll all that change.

So, yeah.

They paid for something. I don't remember if it was the farmer's or the sled or something else. I know they paid for some equipment and I used my change for the rest.

EDIT: It was the farmer's that work paid for cause I remember when they fucking got delivered to the office, lmao!

lol. You do know they have a machine they just dump them into for you. Takes like 4 mins and they come back and give you cash. Some banks make you wait and just put it into your checking account for you...Or you could take it to a grocery store where they have those machines.

The wife and daughter always steal my change.

pocket change, I give that shit away. BTW your not better than me, proof is in the name.

I guess the guy that stole jnev's 4 bills just didn't feel like waiting....

i used to take my change collection straight to vegas when it was time to harvest, now I use it for something charitable or a gift. One time i just left a huge bag of quarters at a laundry mat (I always feel bad for people who have to go use some public laundry facility).

As for buying myself toys like a PS3 or what not, i just buy what I want when I want, no need to wait on my change.
