Another Layoff for Swain. . . A Week and a Half

Well my friends,

My hard training has paid off, yet my body is breaking down. My body is sending me signals. For starters, I have minor injuries:

- strain on patella tendon below left knee cap
- strain in lower back (not in erectors)
- achey elbows
- achey rear delts
- sore bicep tendons

Make no mistake. . .I will remain in good shape by

- biking
- jump roping
- ab work
- cardio training that makes me sweat

I consider this to be less intense than heavy training.

For now, I will be out of the iron game for a while. When I return, I will focus on lighter weights (4 sets of 10). . I will still use my current routine.

I probably won't be posting that much either. . .I gotta make some progress on my thesis. . . I will still lurk.

If you have tendonitis stay away from the jump rope, or any high impact activity. Try some pool work, I love it and it doesn't hurt my tendonitis...

You don't need to take a break, that will just set you back.

Just knock down the volume and frequency.
recover make PRs, and then go back hard.

Load up and deload :)

A week and a half off is nothing in the grand scheme of things! You will be fine, and will feel better mentally and physically when you return (and might even have made some progress on that thesis if you don’t jump too much rope). Have fun!

A week or so off always seems to do me good. I don't seem to lose weight/strength and I come back with so much energy and lust for the iron, I feel like gnawing on a 2 1/2 lb. weight between sets.
