Another Fun Sunday, 4-14-02

b fold the truth

Elite Strongman
Platinum
Well, I had planned on having an amazing day in the gym and doing events. The gym went pretty well but between the heat, humidity, and being worn out from gym lifts...I didn't have a ton to give during events. Just kinda went through the motions and pushed myself when I felt I could.

Seated Goodmornings
several warm ups
225 x 3
275 x 3
295 x 3
328 x 3

High Bar Full Squats
225 x 3
317 x 6 (easy)

Deadlifts (very close stance and totally raw)
several warm ups
506 x 1
533.5 x 1
567 x 1 (some reason this was the easiest set)

Farmers Walk (rolling handles)
80's x 300ft
130's x 250ft
180's x 25ft x 2 sets (not sure what went wrong...lol)
180's x 125 ft

Softball Farmers Walk
25's x 200ft
25's x 300ft

Tire Flip
600lb tire x 3 flips
1,000lb tire x 1 flip and two partial attempts...600 x 6-8 flips
1,000lb tire x several partials to work on initial pull

Log Clean and Press
several warm ups
190 x 1
212 x 1
240 x 1
262 x 1 (easy, form is getting much better, felt like 280+ on a regular log)

Super Yoke
345 x 150 feet sprint
435 x 100 feet
525 x 100 feet...I swear my yoke is harder than any other I have used...lol

Husefeld Stone Relay
155 x 50ft, 245 x 50ft, 285 x 50ft...dry heaved shortly after :)

Atlas Stones
320 x 1...kinda been out of practice for a month on them.

Since then I have eaten two large cows, bowl of cornbread, ton of milk, and in dire need of an ice bath...lol. I really did not feel much like training today because I feel beat up from my gym work from last week still. I guess that I need to cut back slightly on my volume in the gym before events too. I just feel too beat up all over, mostly hips, knees, and elbows. Maybe I'm just a little tired...or maybe it is just this stinking humidity. Guess I can just think God that the rain quit just before I began events:)!!!

On a side note...my buddy Jerry hit a PR today and did my 320 stone. His previous best was a 290 stone while training in STL and getting a cradle on my 320 one day.

Any advice???

Doing high bar full squats with 317...a few inches below parallel

pulling 567...and doing the deadlift is another lift, done properly, where you look like one of the ugliest humans on the planet...hha. Holding my breath so tight that it looks like I have 4 chins...lol

little farmers walking....

Yoke Walk with 525...

Light 155 stone...feels so easy..just look how much fun I am having...

With the 245 stone...gosh this thing is thick...makes it very hard to hold on to. You basically have to do it with a fully rounded back and shoulders very far fwd...just like doing an atlas stone.

Fried already...but still giving the atlas stone a whirl...

Nice job, babe! Guess who will be there with you next Sunday, though??? :) :) :)

Looks like you had an awesome workout as always...and you continue to provide inspiration and motivation to everyone on the boards! Keep it up...you are going to achieve your dream, I know you will.

Making my last trip with the 285 stone. Notice that I am sucking wind..lol. The more tired your muscles get, the more you lean back to hold the stone up on your chest. The more you lean back, the heavier it weighs on your chest...hence harder to breathe. :)

..

Putting them away...when you are shot...is not fun either...lol...

Look at the background...isn't KY beautiful? :)

My new softball farmers...love them. Forgot to take a pic of me doing them in my workout...so I went back out to the garage and took one of me just holding one of them. They really work the top of the forearms as well as the entire hand. Plan to go heavier next week.

Hope you like all of these and any thoughts or suggestions are welcomed.

do you live on a farm? what is your job? cool pics

Don't live on a farm...just in Rural Kentucky. I am a soon to be unemployed security guard (plant I work for is moving to Mexico) as well as a full-time student....and a hope to be pro strongman someday.

Great job b fold!

My fiance has some relatives up in casey county. We go up there a couple of times a year.

Do you live close to that area?

Have no idea where Casey County is.

Not all too sore today...yet. My lats are tight and my legs are a bit sore...just a slight ache in several places...but not too bad. I try to emulate what a contest would feel like...or maybe worse.

always a pleasure seeing these pics, so much motivational footage. My sunday was a little less intense. I went for the infamous jog..... I went with my gf and she housed me... I ran maybe, just maybe 2 miles and called it quits cause I was seeing nothing but stars... I know I'm outa running shape but shit she did 3 more miles while i walked home to die..... Guess sex doesn't increase cardio and i need to run more....

these threads are great....

Thanks!!! I encourage anyone and everyone to add some of the "fun" stuff into their training routine. Try doing farmers walks with dbells or just grab a 45'lb plate and pinch grip it while you walk around the gym a few times. Push your car/truck around the gym parking lot a few times after doing legs or just for cardio. Put 500+ on the bar and stand up and walk around in the power rack to simulate the super yoke. Bear hug a 100lb plate and go for a walk...just have fun.

When we train, we act as a team. Sure, one of us is either taping or taking pics...but someone else is following, talking, and cheering each other on. When my buddy got that 320 stone...we all jumped around for a while and yelled a lot. We push for time or distance, or just to make it through.

We do a lot on event days, it is like total body punishment. It is just like a contest...or a tough football game. You just have to make it through it anyway that you can.

Fun...that is the main thing...to have lots of fun.
