I had planned for a light lifting day and a lot of event work but the rain kept us from a lot of it. We decided to do some X-TRA wide Sumo Deadlifts for our ME exercise to overload the hips and hamstrings and let our back continue to rest. We used a pair of clamps and 25's to extend the width of the standing platform under the bar.

X-Tra Wide Sumo Pulls
several warm ups
540, PR!!!! (first time doing these, hit a 580 regular sumo PR a while back)

Good Morning and Squat Combo (first time doing these)
3 sets of 3-5 with 230, PR!!!! and felt good...

Pull Throughs
medium band x 10

Standing Calf Raises
several warm ups
348 x 12 PR!!!!

Super Yoke
few warm ups
620 x 50' in 6.59 seconds, PR!!!

Farmers Walk
back to back sets with 160 x 100' with 1 turn
set 5

Atlas Stones

415 x 1 miss...!!!!

Hey Bfold

When you are in the pick-up phase of the stones it seems like you are dropping too low into the squat position. Was it the size of the stone or is that just the technique you use? I find dropping too low into that position kills my stones.

nice, how did the extrawide pulls feel?


that guy jason is a strong dude, he manhandles the stones. I like how he sorta runs up to them and grabs them. you have awesome training partners always. even barret, and the older man all had lots of heart. now you have cheese and jason who are definately my favorites to watch out of all of them, no offense to the others.

you should rename the squat good mornings to "freesquatting tec style"

Yes...that is my little boy. I have one that is 14 and one that will be 3 in June. They are both little kids and wag their tail. :)

We are trying to get Cheese on Elite asap...:)

That 415 stone is H U G E!!!!! The 420 stone that they used in Boston was smaller than my 365 and my 365 feels like a bowling ball compared to the 415. It is just amazingly big around. It causes me to have to stand really wide. All I have to do is bend over and the stone touches my chest too...

The X-Tra wide pulls were 'different'. It was all hips and hamstrings. I am trying to pick exercises that we have never done or haven't done in a long time. Setting Pr's is VERY important...

I also like the GM/Squat Combo...we may start doing them lightly 2x per week.

Nice job, a crew of 3 people is great to train with...congrats......my little boy will be 16 next month, u really do think of them as a son, don't you? anyway, congrats....what and when are u training next??

I am doing log clean and press tonight...if my legs can hold me up...lol. My hamstrings and other muscles are VERY sore.

Saturday is out big Kentucky Training Day...hope I am ready...

I have seen lots of other people make huge gains also...all right here on this board. I learn from you just as much as you learn from me. People tell me all the time...'man you have just become freaky strong in the past few months' and attribute it to some drug or new exercise... They never put it together that I train hard and as intelligently as possible. I try to make small gains on every workout...in some way or another.
