Animalbolics?

need2Bbig

New member
I am going to be doing Animalbolics but I can only train in the morning due to my career. I was planning on doing this.

PW
carb/protein

two hours later
carb/protein

lunch
tuna or chicken salad w/fat

5PM
MuscleMilk

7PM
tuna or chicken salad w/fat

I have not added the macronutrients yet but I will only be eating 2000 calories. I am 180lbs w/ 17-20%% BF. Does this look good?

I don't have the animalbolics spreadsheet in front of me but if you're following the plan given by Animal, then you're good to go

Time to work your ASS off :)

Animobolics is a version of TKD, so my question to you is if you're starting at 20% bodyfat, why not just go with a regular CKD? would probably be easier on your schedule

It is not really a TKD because you eat carbs twice on workout days. I do not like CKDs because of how they leave me feeling. Also, I have read negative things from Animal and Nelson Montana about CKDs. After all, who said that you cannot lose fat by eating carbs?

Mr.X

Does a TKD 'let you' eat fruit (more specifically, fructose) throughout the day?

I was under the impression it did not, which would make it much different from a-bolics.

No it does not, but it allows for carbs during the period of the workout. Just to add something here, any diet that allows fruit throughout the day is obviously not clear as to the concept of dieting where fructose is stored straight in the liver, after the liver is full (about 150g) the fructose is stored straight as bodyfat. Thus, I don't see how fructose intake is anything but taking 1 step forward and two steps backwards.

Well, all I can say is that it works for me.....two to four pieces of fruit throughout the day (in addition to proper protein/fat ratios) helped me lose 30lbs this summer and is helping me lose more right now.

Animal has posted in depth about the fructose issue....(helps keep T4 to T3 conversion going, doesn't raise insulin, among other things)

Here's a couple interesting reads on fructose and why it's not so bad:

FRUCTOSE - by Lyle McDonald

T-mag - The Forbidden Fruit?

I've seen it all and none address the issue of fructose being 4x more likely to be store as fat and fructose filling up the liver way too fast. Yes, the thyroid might be positively effected, but in the long-run the negatives outweigh the positives.

Just as a side note, it's good to hear it worked for you because different diets work for different people. From my experience with 100s of people, I have seen that starvation and fruit-loading is not the best way to go, but, again, it varies from person to person.

Mr.X

Exactly. How each person responds to "any" diet is the biggest variance in dieting, more-so than any diet itself.

Good points, and as usual Mr. X is on the money. Don't for that eating large amounts of fructose, for many individuals will reduce the production of thyroid hormones, leaving less t4 to convert into t3, even if it does so more efficently.

Mr. X and SC are also correct in diets being a highly individual thing, but I've noticed that people who can lose bodyfat when cutting, after a heavy bulkding phase, while eating large amounts of fruit, tend to be naturally lean individuals to begin with. For most of us, it is not going to be the best method for losing bodyfat while preserving lbm.

I'm about the furthest thing you can get from being naturally lean....I'm 90 - 100 lbs lighter than I was 2.5 years ago.

I'm very happy it works for me.....it was almost like I finally found the right 'key' and the fat loss just started happening rapidly while strength kept going up as well.

very satisfying for me to do it on my own, and understand why something is working.....although it took me a long time to learn why things work and don't work.

and it's not really that much fructose.....figure if you eat three apples a day, as your only source of carbs, you're getting carbs from a few different sources.... around 1/2 fructose, and the rest a mixture of glucose, sucrose, and fiber.

I'm not saying that I go out and eat a bunch of fructose packets or something :-P
