I definitely did hear that story befroe about Andre and I met some people in Rhode Island who knew him well. They said he was one the nicest guys ever and was a decent drunk.

back in the 80's when WWF was smaller it came to Pittsburgh PA. My uncles and grandfather set up the lights and did the rigging. One of my uncles got me all of the autographs of those guys. He said that the big laugh was the fact that Andre the Giant drank almost 19 bottles of wine before the match.. or that he woke up drinking the wine and by the time of the match he was upto 19 bottles. My uncle said all of the other wrestlers would brag about how much Andre could put down.

I drank 45-50 ounces of Vodka in one drink once. Almost died and learned a valuable lesson, dont chug lots and lots of hard liquor.
It was one of those cheap plastic half gallon (1.75L) jugs. Someone had already poured a few shots (the neck was empty, I drank the rest).
1.75L = 56 ounces/shots, so sometime I'll pour out the neck of one and see precisely how much I drank.

just try it and you'll see. I don't know how high your tolerance is, but back then mine was pretty high. Just try it, good luck. OH yeah, one more thing. Take one shot every minute. I didn't know I was supposed to do that until I downed about 10 of the shots. So "technically" I am not in the club, bet then again I am. Very important, one shot every minute.

i think it's more of a mental game...you're not just pounding beer after beer until someone passes out. you're sitting around watching a clock and taking a shot of beer every 60 seconds. after about an hour you have six beers in you...if you finish, you have drank about 10-11. that's a fair amount of beer in less than two hours. even harder to do is the 700 club...you have to make the century club seven nights in a row. hello, death.

Spentagn - It really doesn't sound as haard as it is. It starts out real slow and you are like "what the fuck, this is pussy shit." Then it gets faster and faster until you are like "what the fuck, I am about to puke all over you." I have had many a friend throw up attempting this. We usually use the 1.5 oz shot glasses though.

It's harder than you think. Interestingly, the people I engaged in these shenanigans with were largely rugby players. Most of us averaged about 105 beers finished. Top was 117.
The first day, you can probably get 30 down (let's say 20 UK pints). It's all uphill from there.

I didn’t read the whole thread so not sure if this was posted, one day when an old co-worker of mine was in some gym (many years ago) in CT, he said he saw Andre come over and load up a bar that was on the floor with (4) 45’s on each side (405lbs) and proceeded to do 1-arm rows… no joke…
