OK.....final poll.....best protein powder for between meals and during the day/pre-workout is..............?

Also, what is the difference between Flax and MCT?

Is one better than the other?

I like a combo of the following for protein during day, and before sleep:
40% Micellar Casein for the longest release duration
30% Egg Protein for medium release duration
30% Isolate for immediate absorption (can you Hydrolyzed or WPC)

Flaxseed Oil is a source of long-chain fatty acids: omega-3's primarily and omega-6's. MCT - medium chain triglycerides, can be found in coconut oil. Look into thread on this page about MCT/Coconut oil I posted few studies there. For a good balanced diet incorporate both and add extra virgin olive oil for monounsaturated fats.

I doubt there is one best protein mix out there; check your other 3 posts, in one of them I talked about your % ratios for protein.

I do not know about mixes of protein, but if I'm not mistaken, Egg has the highest bioavailability of any protein. Meaning you actually get the most gram/gram of it. I'm sure someone here can back me up or correct me on this.

GNC has an Egg Protein (No, I don't go there very often)...but it's their brand (Pro Performance) and very reasonably priced at 30% off....anyone ever tried it? Might taste like ass, but I'm assuming Egg and Casein are the two best pre-workout proteins......agreed?

I'd go w/ ProteinFactory any day over ANY GNC product Might taste like ass, but I'm assuming Egg and Casein are the two best pre-workout proteins......agreed? depends, if before and after workout, Whey protein would be your best bet due to the fast digestion times - for other times (meals) Caseinate and Egg are superior

Albumin (egg) and Caesin (Milk) have the best amino acid profiles (biologically 'perfect' proteins)...

their digestion times are another matter. i think Caesin is 4 hrs as it forms this gel thing when it hits your stomach (which is good as its a nice slow release protein) but not good after exercise. i dont know what albumins absorbtion time is

Something like Whey get absorbed quickly

MCT = Medium chain triglyceride....type of fat
Flax = Linseed oil (the oil of the linseed) rich in omega-3

Mr. X,

Does the egg white protein from Protein Factory have any certain taste?? I was just looking at their site, but it doesn't say a flavor or anything. Or, is it just it's own flavor/no flavor??

Thanks,
PinkPanther

not really

Ok.....X...I know you loveeeeeeee protein factory, but I need an emergency fix (ran out) and need a SOLID pre-train protein.......EAS, Prolab? A solid Egg and Casein protein? Maybe a little whey?

I recomend beef as your primary protien source between "meals" (you should be eating 6-10 of those a day).

Mct oil = medium chain triglycerides, which has certain benefits depending on one's diet, but given the choice I would go with flax seed oil, hands down. Anyone who suggest that MCT would be better for while cutting, or trying to gain muscle, or even for general health does not have a leg to stand on.

A solid Egg and Casein protein? Maybe a little whey? go to your local nutrition store, you'll pick something up that will be comparable to what you need

You have to understand how MCT oil functions vs. EFA (linolenic and lenoleic acids) related oils differ in their basic functions. MCT offers a fast conversion to ketones (which the body can use in lieu of glucose); thus, it makes MCTs an ideal fast energy source, especially on low-carb diets where energy and stamina are always an issue. Therefore, there is a leg to stand on, it's just the lack of understanding that makes it seem otherwise.
