Anavar and Test Levels

Say for example, someone were to go on an Anavar only cycle. During and/or after their testosterone levels were checked, would the test levels be high? Why, why not?

Yes, they would be high... Orals act quickly, whcih is why ppl use them. Var is a steroid after all and will raise your test levels and shut you down!

OK, but Var is not test, and it does not act on the testes to create more test. So why would I have a higher test level since it is testing for testosterone? Further, if it were to increase test levels wouldn't it lead to virilization in women? Isn't Var supposed to not do that?

We are talking Anavar (oxandrolone) right?

In small doses you would be correct. But in the type of doses typically used by men, I think it is different.

Studies using low dosages of this compound note minimal interferences with natural testosterone production. Likewise when it is used alone in small amounts there is typically no need for ancillary drugs like Clomid/Nolvadex or HCG. This has a lot to do with the fact that it does not convert to estrogen, which we know has an extremely profound effect on endogenous hormone production. Without estrogen to trigger negative feedback, we seem to note a higher threshold before inhibition is noted. But at higher dosages of course, a suppression of natural testosterone levels will still occur with this drug as with any anabolic/androgenic steroid and therefore require post cycle therapy to restore the HPTA.

I wasn't talking about suppression.

My main question was simply, if I take a blood test to measure my testosterone levels, then take Oxandralone, will my subsequent blood test for testosterone levels show an increase of testosterone?

Oh... my bad...

However, if you take it in higher doses in can shut you down. Does that mean that your Test levels are high and that's why it shuts you down?

I asked a friend of mine today at the gym who is a Pharmacist he said he thought it would raise your levels. However....

it is a derivative and when they do the blood test I imagine it picks up all metabolites of test including dht derivatives. I've heard the same thing from primo, etc
