An unlucky night....

Tonight wasn't too fun. I was making a chicken dish for dinner that involved throwing a habenero pepper into the sauce. I've cut them before and not had a problem. No such luck tonight. My poor fingers were on fire for 2 hours so I pretty much stood at my kitchen sink for that entire time running them under cold water and washing them. They've finally stopped hurting.

Despite the fingers burning, I decided to unload the dishwasher with the hand that hurt less. I dropped a glass and it shattered on the counter. I looked down a minute later and noticed my leg was covered in blood. The glass had thigh my open. I'm thinking I should go to bed before I do something else. lol

Feel better... I hate days/nights like that. Once it starts it doesn't seem to end. I tend to know things like that will happen if I drop my make-up in the morning and it shatters on the floor. The whole day will be filled with dropping things and just bad luck. You'd think I'd learn to just go to bed.

i've cut habenero peppers before without a problem. of course, i do my best not to touch the inside of them if i can help it, and immediately afterwards i wash my hands. maybe your skin was too dry and it soaked right in?

I altered a recipe. It had natural pb, diced tomato, part of the pepper (I subbed the habenero for jalepeno), lemon juice, and garlic. I threw that in the food processor while the chicken was cooking. I sauted it in a smidge of peanut oil with onions after rubbing it with a little cinnamon and a decent amount of cumin.

I got ahold of a habenero seed in Kung Pao shrimp before...I was miserable for the better part of 4 hours

i don't think habaneros are really all that bad. i used to take 3 or 4 fresh ones and toss them in the blender with a jar of salsa. talk about HOT salsa....that stuff was good.

was the chicken good Raina? it sounds interesting. what's it called?
