An inoffensive, respectful Question on Atheism

Decem's respecfull post makes me wonder....

If Atheists do not believe in General of a Creator and a GOD,
how was the Vast Eternal Universe created?

Where did the Universe and all it contains come from?

Any the correct answer is NOT that is was always here.
That IMO is not Logical.

thanks for your Respectfull replies as I am curious what you think or if you even wonder as an Atheist

why can't the universe just be? matter can neither be created nor destroyed. the universe was always here and always will be. the universe is constantly changing, and as such, the universe of tomorrow can possibly be nothing like the universe we know today. enjoy it while you can!

I think my Logical statment relates to the fact as you reminded me that "Matter can not be created nor destroyed" as we understand physics.

No one knows for sure who or what or why the Universe was created. It is my "Belief" that some greater power did..

I'm just curious what others think. Obviously the belief that it was simply always there will be popular...

thanks.

i really hope there's no sarcasm in your voice (or fingers) when you say "decem's respectful post".. because i was being earnestly respectful

simply because we don't have the insight and knowledge on the inner workings of the universe.. and how it was formed... does not mean that we will never explain it.. and will never know how it was created.. (which i do feel that it came from something.. whether it's just a big ball of exploding/imploding mass.. or something put it there.. or something.. i don't know.. but i don't think.. it "just is"... especially when we can watch planets being created.. creation is there.. we can watch it.. we can watch stars be born and die...

I think many have a incorrect view of what God is due to so many years of hearing what God is from an incredible source. You must forget and abolish all notions and concepts of what God is, thats when you will understand. For example, and this is just an example, if one believes in The Big Bang, then they basically believe that a bunch of shit blew up and formed what we have today(Earth and all of its abundancies). If we take the intracacies of life and all that is takes to make it possible, from animal to man(and this is alot to comprehend people), one can only see that "shit did not just blow up", everything was waved in perfect form to make what we have today, nothing as difficult, as intricate, as beyond our thinking, as special can just appear without a "hand", without a "force", without "help". This help, hand and force I speak of is what is defined as God. peace

IF there is a God, then where did he come from? Everything has to start somehwere, right? Or does it?

If matter can't be eternal then how can god be eternal?

Why does everyone assume that as soon as something cannot be explained by science some divine force is behind it?

Why does the universe need a creator, why doesn´t god need a creator?

What did an eternal god do all the time before creation?

The correct answer to who created the universe is that noone knows for sure.
And someone claiming to know that it was god makes as much sense as claiming that it was Yoda.

I AM AN ATHEIST AND I CONFESS I DO NOT KNOW WHERE THE UNIVERSE CAME FROM. THERE ARE SOME THEORIES BUT EVEN THEY ARE LACKING (FOR INSTANCE WHAT CAME BEFORE THE BIG BANG??). SO I DO NOT KNOW. I WOULD RATHER JUST SAY I DO NOT KNOW, THAN PUT A GOD IN THERE TO FILL THE CRACKS. OCCAM'S RAZOR.

That person is Jesus. and since you already have decided not to follow him..what is "your" specific gain from keeping others from doing so????

what's your specific gain from keeping him from keeping others from following him?

Just wanted to post my 2 cents worth.

...except with regards to nuclear mechanisms.

Would this be a definition of Agnosticism instead of Atheism? It may just be a matter of semantics. If one can state definitively that "there is no God" then one would have to be a god to know for sure. This would negate the statement automatically. I'm interested in how Atheists have faith much the same as do believers. Otherwise, the agnostics will go on searching for proof for or against. This seems to me to be more sensical.

Just some thoughts, nothing argumentative or offensive, I hope.
