Amputation rate for US troops twice that of past wars

yeah I heard this too...

For every dead soldier in a war there's a few that survived of which one can't be sure if that's the best thing for them.

There's no problem with them. With today technology and medicine advances they can use prostatic legs and arms and can be inserted 100% in the private life. They are happy. And we have to be even more proud of them for what they are doing. God bless our soldiers.

can i cut your arms and legs off ?.....PLEASE?

I didn't read the article but I wonder if they pointed out fatalities during operations are half that of even Desert Storm. This has been attributed to widespread use of body armor and trauma plates which leave extremeties unprotected and thus the amputations. I'm still pretty sure most soldiers would rather lose an arm than their life.

Of course. But in exchange please go out of my country and take at least 99% of the rest of the communists out of here. I'd do it for my country.

There's a very interesting article in the New England Journal of Medicine dealing with this. They state that due to the ceramic body armor protecting the vital organs that more wounded soldiers with horrific injuries are surviving. They also attribute the survival rate to the forward placement of surgical teams.

After reading the article I had to ask myself if I would want to survive some of these injuries. The answer is I don't know. :(
