Americans killing Canadians

this is what irritates me about this situation:

Bush did not mention the deaths during a series of events in Washington until a reporter shouted a question as the president was leaving the fourth meeting of the day. "I talked to the prime minister last night and expressed my condolences," Bush said.

i think americans take our alliance with them for granted.

I partially agree. I think America's 'official' reaction was more a result of Bushs character flaws, then resulting from the American militarys unfavorable perception of their alliance with Canadian Armed Forces.

If Clinton was in power, would he have responded as disinterested to the tragedy as Bush?

Probably not.
