Mario Vazquez, sources say he didnt wanna be tied down to an exlusive American Idol contract......wow. He totally used that show and fucked them over.

my best friend did the same thing on Canadian Idol. She was all the way to the wildcard show and dropped out. Was it a good decision? I'm not sure....the guy who won apparently is back working as a waiter in his dad's restaurant and my friend is in New York, finishing her album.

yeh well i dont know about American Idol. Seems as if the winners of the past are livin pretty succesfull lives.

nah i think they screw you over with a harsh contract and you are forced to go where and do what they want you to.. you have no freedom

the contracts those shows give out are awful, you get used up, and you get out of the contract when everyone forgets who you are. the australian versions all rpetty much ended up doing a couple of mens magazine shoots and thats it, back to suburbia

I think they are doin alright still.

The contracts for the winners may be harsh, but they get more exposure and limelight then you could possibly imagine, which will only lead to other opportunities once their contracts are up. Name me one AI dropout contestant who is as successful as Kelly Clarkson and Clay Aiken.

Compared to what they will get on their own, the odds are not in their favour considering there are a million other good voices out there.

Someone mentioned Ruben...who's that?....no offence but I never hear any of his song on the radio, I think that it was actully Clay that beat him. I know we will never know, but it's what i think.

He got his name out there. I don't think it's that bad of an idea if he can follow it up with a record contract. Not a whole lot of credibility or longevity in a career as an American Idol.
