I use amazon a lot. I like amazon. I ain't got no beef with them, and they like me for throwing money at them.
Often, when I see that they have something that could use some improvement, I tell them.
This is what I just sent to them 2 mins ago:
-----------------------------
I normally just dump things I want into my wishlist and don't really give it much thought. Just brainless consumerism - the American way.
But when I've had people actually buy me things off of the wishlist, it has made me think that yes, while I did indeed want that 30lb ball of cheese - after all, it was on my wishlist - perhaps I wanted the Hitman2 for PS2 more than said cheese.
So my idea is that you add some sort of ranking system into the wishlist - perhaps the ability to say "oh, I love all of these material goods equally" for those that aren't interested in it - but allow others that have nothing better to do (like myself) the ability to give certain items a value of importance over those of others (I personally would rather have the picture book on pornography over that of the history of midgets in Olypmic sport - hence, the former gets a higher ranking on my list of love that you call the wishlist).
From a programming standpoint, it would be relatively trivial to add that feature in, so I say give it a go, less yapping, more cracking. Seriously. Get on it.
Thanks.
