Saw this post in another board...


One of my good friends has (HAD) a brother who owned a Camaro/Mustang salvage yard. This guy was big into racing too and became a bootleg dealer for NOS. Saturday he was filling a guys bottle out of his big bottle when the bottle started running low and icing over. Take a guess as how the guy heated the bottle up. WITH A FUCKING CUTTING TIP ON A TORCH!!!! Guess what happens. He knocks a hole in the bottle and it goes KABOOOOOM. Guys head was blown completely off as were both his legs. The HAZMAT team had to mop the guy off the walls/floor/ceiling...etc...

Wait....is n2o flammable in and of itself? I thought not.....that the coefficient of expansion of nitrogen gas is higher than that of hydrocarbons, thus effectively increasing the compression ratio....that and some oxygen is contributed to combustion, which is why you have to run NOS motors extra rich.

Maybe it was just the pressure being released that blew his head off...though that doesn't make sense if the bottle was running low.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing as far as I know NOS actually slows the burning of hydrocarbons letting the piston recieve a longer/stronger push as opposed to a quick explosion.
I say BS as well, unless the bottle was not empty and then it would be a pressure situation and the contents of it are moot anyways.
