Am I doing to much cardio?

Theres no way sprints burn as much fat and weight as jogging.. longer running because of glycogen and carb usage and all that crap..idk all about that exactly but my friend who is studying all that stuff in college was telling me about cardio and how to burn fat etc it is better to jog and crap eliptical then sprints... but I mean, if you just want to keep yourself in shape and sweat a little bit.. then sure thing.. go ahead and follow mr. x's plan... just depends on all of what YOU want for yourself

hey bro,
u know, ive been doing ALOT of reading on cardio vs. hiit. and till now, every article or advice has stated that hiit will make u lose the most weight. it is because, hiit tricks ur body, ur body doesnt know when u sprint and then relax. it burns calories as if u wre sprinting non stop. Also, hiit will raise ur metabolism for 24-48 hours, hence u lose more calories thru out the day. As opposed to reg cardio, where u stop burning the second u stop the cardio.

think of it as your body being a car. when does it lose the most fuel, when u travel ast low constant speeds or when u race the mother fucker to the max? what ya think?

Thanks for the replies. Here is what my diet looks like, give or take.

Meal 1 6eggs whites, mixed with one whole egg, omelet with mushroom and asparagus.60grams of oats with strawberries and bananas. One scoop of whey.

Meal 2 Chicken breat,baked potota,green veggies

Meal 3 PWO shake

Meal 4 6-8 oz Salmon,baked pototo

Meal 5 Chicken breast,green veggies

Meal 6 Protein shake with fruit

Meal 7 2 cans of tuna

Meal 8 Cottage cheese,1 scoop of whey

Drinkink 6-8 litres water a day

Your protein is excellent bro, I think you are on track with your cardio because you are still consuming almost 200g of carbs a day. Do me a favor don't go by the scale go by the mirror unless you are stepping on stage for a show.

muscle and fitness actually had an article on this, showing that doing heavy lifting and cardio within 6-8 hours of each other could definitely effect gains from lifting.

I've never heard of HIIT but i googled it and found this.. sound interesting.. kinda like doing 200 intervals where you sprint 200meters.. jog 250.. and repeat.. crazy switch up... this looks good

Googled Info on HIIT:

The reason that High Intensity Interval Training works better for fat loss is this: When you do a cardio session at the same pace the whole time, your body goes into what is called steady state. This means that your body has adjusted itself to the speed you are going and tries hard to conserve energy (calories). You will be able to avoid this and burn more calories and FAT by doing the interval training.

The easiest way that I tell people to do it is to start off at a good pace for 5 minutes. Then take up the intensity on the machine and go as hard and as fast as you possibly can for a minute and then bring it back down for a minute or two — however long it takes for you to recover enough to do it again. ANY cardio machine will work — I like the treadmill and the elliptical trainer the best.

Another easy way to introduce yourself to this kind of cardio without killing yourself right off the bat is simply to keep changing your speed and intensity level every two minutes or so — go up and down — challenge yourself. This will "trick" your body into burning more calories since it can not achieve steady state.

When it comes to the heart rate question— whether to stay lower or higher — this is your answer. At a lower % of max heart rate (65%), a larger percentage of calories burned come from fat than at a higher heart rate (75-85%). HOWEVER, despite the percentages, you will burn more total calories and therefore more total fat calories at a higher heart rate.

im a firm believer that its ether cardio or gaining muscle.. you cant do both at the same time and get great results with ether one.. in your case though i'd focus on bringin it down from 12%.. so im thinkin you could even go ed with the cardio for a while and then start bulking

for sure, athletes do it all the time bro

High intensity cardio is not needed. If your burning calories you are burning calories, plain and simple. Not one Olympian runs.

you're stupid in so many ways..

yeah, search it here in the board. there r alot of articles on it. from what ive read, hiit is the most effective way to loose fat, period. it takes less time than reg cardio, its more effective at fat burning, and u lose fat thru out the day. cant be beat...
anyways bro, im trying to lose weight, so im doing cardio like crazy, apart from my diet. ill let u know how it goes.

i just think that hiit is way harder than cardio u know. it takes way more effort to sprint, catch ur breath and repeat 10 times than jog for 30 min. there both good, but in my opinion i would think hiit is better.

my brother, who all his life was chuby little kid started jogging in highschool. he lost alot of weight, which was awesome. but he started doing hiit like 3 months ago, and now his vains are popping out everywere. every weekend i see him, he just seems more defined than the previsou week. Hope his experience tell us something.
