Alcohol while on cycle

I'm posting this question for a friend of mine so I can show him. I'm 28 and he's 29 to get the age straight. He's about 6'1 and probly around 215-220. He's doing a cycle of sust 250 only, twice a week. It's his first cycle. I start mine around oct or early nov. He likes to go to bars and he drinks a lot when he does drink. Weekends only. Is alcohol too harsh on his body while on? If I've been reading correctly then it's a bad idea correct?

Typical replies I've seen for this question over the past decade:

1. No, its the worst thing you could do
2. It's not so much that its harsh on your body, but its really a question of your dedication to the gym.
3. Drinking will diminish your gains, water retention, estrogen sides blah blah
4. If you can't stop drinking for a few months while you're on maybe you're an alcoholic.
5. If you're gonna drink while on steroids you have no business doing steroids...

list goes on and on and on

I'm pretty sure that if everyone on forums followed their own advice then they'd all have their procards.

Be responsible with what you do. Drinking isn't the most productive thing while living this lifestyle but its not going to kill you.

Agreed. I never drink when on only because Im greedy. The money spent on one night out could have bought another bottle....:chomp:

Right on bro thanx for the feed back. The guy loves to party and party's hard on the weekends. I'm going to show him this tomorrow.

Honestly, it'd be a lot harsher if he was on orals, especially something like Dbol. I personally would never drink on cycle, just because with my luck it'd negate my gains for the week!

I'm sure drinking with acetaminophen is worse than drinking with any oral steroid.

Lol that's awsome. I can't drink a drop till mid October. I have two fights almost back to back. One at the end of aug and the other in the beginning of oct. I don't want to ruin everything I've been working so hard for on party's. Then it's time to move up two weight classes by feb. Hence my cycle I'm starting at the end of oct. If two classes gas me out in training then I'll cut the weight I need to just go up one. My goal is two though, but the organization wants at least one.

it sure aint a good idea..

he wont die from drinking on a test only cycle though but he will not reap the benefits of a clean cycle

when he starts popping out the dbol..he better think twice before bending the elbow

Ok best thing is to abstain completely from alcohol, i am not gonna delve into the health side effects which i am sure are common sense.

But more importantly the effects alcohol has on the body and training and diet, you friend obviously wants results and i am hoping maximum results from his cycle, alcohol is a killer to both fatloss and muscle gain, firstly it slows the metabolism for around 36 hours after as well as messing in a big way with food absorption, both of which massively impact your goals.your body also will use

I became an alcoholic many years ago, and battled with the disease for a long time, i have also been cycling for well over a decade so the 2 crossed paths , and it shattered alot of cycles, and i cringe at how much further and better i would be if i had got control of it then. I am fortunate to say i conquered that beast a long time ago, and the results between drinking on weekends or a couple here and there during the week, vs not drinking at all, all i can say the differences are big

Goodluck convincing your friend , lets hope he takes his cycle, and his training seriously enough to come to the conclusion that a buzz on the weekend is not worth more than the extra slabs of muscle he could be putting on, or the more ripped he can become.

some insight :

Alcohol inhibits the breakdown of nutrients into usable molecules by decreasing secretion of digestive enzymes from the pancreas (2). Alcohol impairs nutrient absorption by damaging the cells lining the stomach and intestines and disabling transport of some nutrients into the blood (3). In addition, nutritional deficiencies themselves may lead to further absorption problems. For example, folate deficiency alters the cells lining the small intestine, which in turn impairs absorption of water and nutrients including glucose, sodium, and additional folate (3).
Even if nutrients are digested and absorbed, alcohol can prevent them from being fully utilized by altering their transport, storage, and excretion (4). Decreased liver stores of vitamins such as vitamin A (5), and increased excretion of nutrients such as fat, indicate impaired utilization of nutrients by alcoholics (3).
